I read the entire book in one day! The book is written in such an eloquent way and the way the author, Thalia Hayden, talks about her experiences since she was a child to her experiences, traumas, and various accounts of adversity and having to become an adult and parent and a very early age makes for a very compelling memoir of her life. I myself have had my own fair share of multiple accounts of adversity. From being in a car accident and being put into a wheelchair at the age of 6, this book and the message behind it resonated with me ever so deeply. And knowing that Thalia made it out of all her trials and tribulations a more successful person both professionally and as an individual spoke volumes to me and both inspired and motivated on a personal level, reinforcing the idea to me that anyone can achieve anything as long as one remains persistent about their endeavors in life. And a message to Thalia Hayden: You are awesome!
An easy and addictive read, chronologically detailing life’s struggles to attain and maintain both balance and satisfaction through challenges in personal life and career, and from failures to successes. Learning how to thrive and educate others in the male-dominated television news industry and in life, and in this process overcoming dysfunctional family roots and habits, to eventually find her right environment and location for a healthy family, friends and career.
“We each have a story buried deep inside - every single one of us - and it’s healthy to talk about it.”
This book unfolds one woman’s path to find peace despite life’s greatest challenges. She also offers insight into how she peeled back the layers to unlock her most authentic self; a concept that really resonates with me. I truly enjoyed Local Celeb!
This book was a tell all of a young girl who went through many things that a lot of people could never fathom. It’s goes to show that you never know what people have gone through unless you walk in their shoes. Also, shows what a beautiful woman has come out of this through perseverance and confidence.
It's difficult enough being a woman in the media. Add the challenge of a struggle with addiction & this is a pretty remarkable success story that may help inspire others facing a similar battle. Inspiring!
