After Kira broke his heart twice, Haneef made the decision to finally move on from her and took the necessary steps to protect his peace and his heart. He wanted absolutely nothing to do with Kira and, rightfully so. She has emotionally drained this man and he’s done trying. Unfortunately, Haneef’s love for Kira just won’t let him walk away. When Kira has a mental breakdown, he’s right there to support her all the way which, given how she treated him, was pretty damn admirable. But, Haneef made it clear from the start that his support was given from the sidelines only. He still wanted nothing to do with Kira. As with all brokenhearted men, Haneef immediately start dating another woman. Why, oh, why do men insist on using women as place holders when they know they’re in love with someone else?!!! I was not a fan of Kimberly. She was clingy as hell and a step below from becoming a stalker but, she deserved better. I just wish Serena let Kira cut her azz after that shyt she pulled at the mall. Yeah, homegirl definitely deserved a slice or two with Kira’s blade. I will say, I may have had a slight change of heart towards Kira. My heart actually broke for Kira in this book. That damn Paula really did damage her emotionally and mentally. Constantly craving the love from her mama and finally realizing she would never get it was the catalyst to Kira’s breakdown. During her time in therapy, Kira was able to gain better perspective on her relationship with her mama and make smarter decisions regarding Haneef. Kira definitely redeemed herself in this book. I was really glad she was able to take the steps needed to work on her mental peace as well. Just Wanna Be Loved Too stressed me all the way out. This book takes you on an emotional journey through healing, forgiveness, and self- discovery. At times it was heavy and sad but, watching Kira and Haneef finally get their HEA was worth every tear. Well done Ms. Davis.
This is such a good story. Haneef is the kind of man most of us love...he has one foot in the streets and the other one out....he's an amazing man that puts up with a lot from Kira....but, Kira has a lot that she has to deal with from her past and her crazy ass mother. Kira really got herself together and went through counseling and then went after getting her man back.
Yea, still don't like Kira. I'm glad she got her life together...but still not a fan. Still doesn't deserve Haneef. Dude was too good for her, but Neef just loves Kira's dirty draws.
Stay A Little Longer, Stay Forever, and Just Wanna Be Loved opened the door for Kira and Haneef to be more than their past. Kira has been knocked down and dragged for years. She has many in her corner but knone of therm are family just yet. She gains back a family she lost years ago due to deceit. It takes time but she finds herself and what she really wants out of life. Haneef has had enough. He was no longer willing to have his life in hold. But was the course of action he chose to take the right one. Sometimes being burned pushes you to a wrong turn. Only moving forward will make the right difference.
Anotherbook that was very much enjoyed. Hoping for another character from this story get her own.
A rollercoaster ride of emotions! This was definitely a heavy read but necessary. Kira needed to get her stuff together and Haneef had to love her from a far. There were times I wanted to kick both their butts for working my nerves but the payoff in the end was worth it. I really hope we get a story on Zayn and maybe the sister. Very good read.
Listen, this Neef and Kira’s journey was long, and at times they both drove me crazy. But the journey to healing and finding your way to love can a rocky road. I loved Kira’s growth and her ability to accept that she deserved happiness and love. This read could be a bit heavy at times but it was well worth it.
Me and Neef was about to fight at one point. Had my blood pressure up playing with my girl lol. This was soooo good Shay!!! I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I knew this book was going to take me through it based off the cliffhanger. I was eager to find out how Haneef would handle the hurt that Kira dished. Let’s just say that he didn’t take it well AT ALL. I mean, rightfully so . Haneef is protecting his peace and making steps to move on. To me, he wasn’t completely stepping right. My issue came with him adding Kimberly another into his web of uncertainty. I wasn’t please with that. I felt Kimberly deserved so much better. However, aside from the sketchy behavior, he did manage to impress me . The way he supported Kira getting healthy was admirable. I loved the way he took care of her and made sure she wanted for nothing. The love he had for her was obvious. He didn’t want to get hurt again. Again, he could’ve left Kim out of this
This book did stress me out. I swear I lost my edges and was taken on one emotional ride. Shay was able to take us on a gritty journey of self- discovery, self love and healing. I love the emphasis that the author placed on therapy and ending toxic relationships. I felt Kira was able to gain a better perspective and make progress once she made smarter decisions. At times this book became heavy, sad and irritating, but I was all in regardless. I’m glad that Kira was able to redeem herself and take healthy steps to get her life back on track. Add in supporting friends , a reunited family and entertaining side characters and I say that Shay wrote an exceptional series finale.
I really loved the way that Kira grew throughout the book. It wasn’t pretty, especially the suicidal ideation and the need for an intervention but it was necessary. I think some people will see it as a trigger but i think without those scenes we don’t get a full picture of Kira’s growth. The way that Kira really took the time to work on herself and let go of that dead baggage aka her mom was admirable.
Haneef really struggled with letting Kira go and trying to do his own thing. It was almost comical the way that he let Kimberly on.. there was a few times were I was like okay, enough Haneef! But he had his reasoning, Kira didn’t have the best track record and he had to protect himself.
Serena and Blake are hilarious!! I almost dropped my phone at the scene of those two getting it on! 🤣I like how even though the focus is on Haneef and Kira, readers will still see the growth and evolution of Serena and Blake’s story. We also got a bit of foreshadowing in the type of father Haneef will be, whenever that time happens.
Kira and Haneef had to work and for once, Kira had to be the one to chase Haneef. I loved their growth over the series, I am definitely a believer. Hopefully this is not the last from these two. Shay pours so much into her characters!! The development, dialogue, and uncomfortable conversations are all needed and end the end- the characters win! 🙌🏾👏🏾
I think readers will appreciate this book and will get the closure that is needed from these two. They went from toxic to in love- wholeheartedly. It was a very good read for sure. This one gave me all the feels!!!♥️
Woooww!! Hunni Shay Shay has done it again 🧡 Emotional, toxic, frustrating, completeness, healing. If you dont feel at least 2 of these emotions sumn is seriously wrong wit ya! From the drama and foolishness Paula brings to the generational toxicity Kira displays i am still impressed by the penmanship Shay brings. Yes i wanna pull my ghettoratchet card on both Kira and Haneef, but then i wanna hold them tight and love on em. Baby-hiding Serena and snatch whipped Blake definitely keep the balance of laughter and true friendship so your not feeling so drained. Im so connected to the 4, i hate to see em go...but im definitely ready to see what Shay brings next 💜🧡💜🧡
The second book was just as good as the first. Happy that Kira took the time to get the help she needed and was able to accept that you can't control other people. I felt for her and the relationship or lack of a relationship she had with her mother. I loved the way Neef loved and supported her even when she tried to push him away. Great follow-up to wrap up their story. I just love Ms. Davis!
I will be honest say I didn't read part of this because after the reviews it was just Blake and Serena story told differently. I did appreciate the author showing mental health issues and over coming them. It was a lot of back and forth and had I not just read the 2 books that started the series ot would have been a 3. All in all an okay series.
I’m so glad Kira finally got her shit together. Haneef loved her so much and she was so damaged. I’m glad she got the help she needed. I love happy endings and this was sooo good. Great read like always Shay you did your thing. 💙💙💙💙💙⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I wish I could find love like how it was described in this book. This was a winner! 5 stars! I definitely recommend it to others to read. You may laugh, cry, be angry but in the end... You would want to jump in it! Great job Ms Davis!
The cliffhanger the last book ended with had me in my feelings. I couldn’t believe Kira ghosted Haneef in such a cruel way. For the amount of efforted he put into their relationship she owned him at least a face to face conversation. She owned him that much! She broke that man’s heart and then played in her face. Their relationship could’ve been something good for her, but she forced the ending prematurely. I was shocked at how badly Kira’s life became. Life was definitely whooping her ass. She couldn’t catch a break for nothing. Kira’s mental health took blow after blow. Her negative self-talk had her in a half-nelson, but she fought back to be in a positive frame of mind. I can appreciate a person fighting like hell to be the best version of them self. Kira and Haneef deserved each other and every bit of happiness that came with that.

Shay, I really have no words. Man, this ending had me in tears. I don't usually get so emotional with a read but this one I cried from the beginning to the end. I was so angry with Kira then I became so proud of her because she started peeling her many levels of her onion back! Once she learned that she didn't have to carry her mother's toxic ideas on how she should live her life, after she got reunited with her daddy and nanna met her brother's did Kira finally understand she deserved to be loved, she was worthy, and she stopped self sabotaging. Haneef is such a loving , kind, giving, man. Meeting Kira Haneef had never felt that kind of love for another woman before. He saw the diamond under the dirt. I am so glad she had Serena mom though to love her as a mom should. Thank you showing Kira getting help for her mental issues. That is a big problem for a lot of women of color we never think we need help. Great series.
The continuance of this story still pulls at your emotions and heart. There were so many moments I was on edge as I read how devastatingly hurt and damaged Kira was reaching her lowest emotional hell. I found myself hoping life would be better for her, had to get better after all she endured. I waited for that moment when it all clicks for a character and it was as if it was never going to happen for her, until it did.
In choosing herself, her journey of healing and determination shows strength and a will to fight to overcome. The passion and emotion Shay Davis portrays is almost a beautiful tragedy in this story that’s of true survival to feel free of life’s rejections that weigh you down so you can just breathe. It was like Kira had to totally break in order to be fixed and become whole and discover herself. Kira loved and lost but found herself and so much more in the end. Truly and amazing story.
Both books needed some editing, some of the facts from Book 1 were different in Book 2 and the time line was a little off.
Now, to the review. So at what point did Haneef decide he was a relationship man? Cause now he’s got another girlfriend and in book 1 we constantly heard that he was not that guy. And, also I want to know how the “ girlfriend found out that Kira had been in the hospital .
Now she needed more than therapy she also needed medication but the author left that part out. There was something missing from this story or maybe the first one, I can’t put my finger on it. They love each other but Haneef now realizes how he went about pursing/pushing Kira was not the best thing for either of them so he falls all the way back. Moves on with a new “girlfriend “. Now Kira is ready but it might be too late. Can she get her man back, can he trust her, can they forgive each other? You’ll have to read both books to find out,
Absolutely a great read. The finale was just what was needed to end this series. I was thoroughly impressed with the way the writer captured the dark and deep-rooted strongholds that many people do not acknowledge or overcome. Although this is a fictional story, there are real relatable behaviors that people deal with over the course of their life. I definitely like the way that Haneef handled the situation with Kira. His love for her was solid and he did not allow his desire to cloud his judgment in order to get her the help that she needed. Kira was fortunate to have a friend and love interest who were loyal to her. The fact that her mother never got over her hurt for Kira's father is an example of what happens when the pain becomes your vice and you not only destroy yourself, but you lose the opportunity to experience love. Great job and I recommend this series.
I got this book during one of the stash you ereader events and Shay Davis never misses.
What I liked about this book is the do over or second chance trope was so well written in. I like the fact that it is black love, the characters have their own lives and how they complement each other.
The fact that Kira was willing to work on herself to be a better person for herself first before considering her relationship got me. She was intentional about healing and allowed herself to get to a place where she was ready to let him in. As for Neef, savvy business man, best godfather to BB and self aware man who was ready for love but not willing to end up in a toxic relationship.
I like that they both took the time to work on themselves before getting back together. I loved reading their story!
Took awhile for Kira and Haneef I'm so glad they finally got it together I understand why Haneef was afraid because Kira really did hurt him with kept walking away from him ... But Kira had to let go of all the hurt her mom put her through all the abuse and disrespect I know I would have done that same thing to my life and peace and buried her mom cremation so she can completely move on...
And I really like the friendship her and Serena have and Zayne even though she was going through her friend being sick.... And like how Blake did not have a problem with helping Kira get her man back...
What happened to Kimberly seems suspect frfr like she was a stalker I hope we get a spin off
I know why the caged bird sings, it’s final free from the of tyranny, incredulity, judgement & cruelty of Paula’s resentment. Nonetheless, “Just Wanna Be Loved Too” was emotionally draining, frequently humorous yet definitely drama laden and required lots of patience. …to appreciate & received🤷🏾♀️‼️More so, Kira & Haneef’s love languages although complex was beautiful to witness. Words of affirmation & acts of affection demonstrated thru consistency & compassion, created the environment of safety for their romance to flourish. The decades of emotional & physiological deprivation Kira endured, is free to absorb all the love she desired. And likewise, reciprocate that same love to her family, friends and most importantly her husband Neef. 💕😊‼️..A great series 👏🏿👏🏾👏🏽💐‼️
Ok so the in the last book Kira exhausted me with her back n forth. This book brought the understanding! I love the way she pursued her healing and then her man. I guess it was Neef’s turn to exhaust us. I love him for her but how do you leave someone on the verge of brokenness? I think that we don’t understand mental illness and how to help those who suffer from it so the actions of the characters were true to life for sure. I am pleased that we got a complete update on Serena and Blake too!
I love the realistic writing of this story with its twists and turns; I couldn't put it down. Kira and Haneef had a lot to deal with, but I read " Love is patient " I was so glad Haneef stayed with Kira and didn't settle for anything less. I appreciate how the author introduced Hannef's mom and sister into the story. Those closest to you will let you know, you ain't fooling noone. They always want the best for you. This is a very well written story with possible triggers for some people.
I can’t even put into words how good this series and the parent two book series was. I’m sitting here about to be late for work! Neef and Sunshine, goodness! They had their struggles but their love won in the end and boy was it worth the wait! I laughed, cried, and my mouth hit the floor several times. You don’t have to read Serena and Blake to enjoy this series, but I HIGHLY recommend starting with them. What a journey!!!! Now I can leave the house with a big smile on my face.
I loved this book. I’m glad that my girl Kira got her self together. I was so happy that Haneef was by her side through it all. I knew that he still loved her. I was so happy when they got back together. Yessss Kira went through a lot but I was happy that she had everyone in her corner to make sure that she got the helped that she needed. I hope to get a spin off about them in the future.
I so love Kira and Haneef and I'm happy their love out wave everything. Nisa and Blake are true friend. I'm so sad to see this story end. I need the wedding and baby story Shay. But you it did yourself another page turner and great book. Keep doing what your doing with your art. ❤
Kira was fighting some serious demons from her mother always berating her. I am so glad that mental illness and mental health were brought up in this story. Haneef was ticking me off playing hard to get he knew Kimberly was not the one for him. It was always Kira and everybody knew it😁
Great series! Kira got on my nerves in the first installment, but after seeing her breakdown the way she did, had my heart full. I'm happy Haneef took his time getting back with her because he wasn't sure if she would hurt him again. It all worked out for them in the end!!! Kira and Haneef!!!!!!!! Great job
This one did it for me! Loved every minute I was in this book. I’m so glad that they were able to reconnect. It made me so happy that Kira was able to get the help she needed. Her mother really did damage to her and didn’t care! But God was able to show her that she was surrounded by love the whole time. Thank you for another banger.
