THE AMOUNT OF PAIN THAT THIS BOOK HAS CAUSED ME BOTH MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY IS IMMEASURABLE if I could rate it half a star or even 0 stars I would, Outdated. Basic. Bland.

This is a high school text book. While there are many texts out there that might be more in-depth, or offer more facts, this one is easy to read and does a nice job of telling the story of America. My one negative is that is seems obvious that it leans in a more liberal directions at a times (FDR, immigration, Ronald Reagan, as a few examples) which is slightly annoying. I appreciate high school text books that are neutral and that offer arguments on all sides. Most high school students are only beginning to form political opinions, so assuming they would catch this is not likely. BUT as a high school text this goes a very, very long way. The author consolidates the information to give a broad understanding of the information, always guided by essential questions along the way. Pictures and stories are interesting. Point of views are offered at the end of almost every chapter. Nice modern text book.

after reading this book, it made me say "on this day i see clearly." one may presume that this book will cover mass information about america's history based on the title , and that is correct.an american who is oblivious of his/her native country's history is not g. likewise, this book serves to fill vacuous minds incldung mine. through reading this book, ive learned a lot about america and now that i am more knowledgable about america's history, i can interpret literary texts with ease. i can also see how and why certain things that we have today came about, thereby 'on this day i see clearly'

Although possessing good facts, this book tends to miss out on a lot of facts my teacher said was going to be on the New York state Regents Exam. This book also likes to be witty with the first page of every chapter, bringing up people who are almost irrelevant to the main central idea of the chapter itself. Additionally, this book also tends to carry extraneous detail one doesn't really need to know for life, like "Lewis and Clark found dinosaur bones on their expedition across the Louisiana Territory". But what can one expect; this is a textbook.

Contains a myriad of information ranging from colonization to the dropping of the atomic bomb. Has many illustrations that adeptly summarizes the chapters.
