How can Cal live when the monster remains in the mirror? Cal is struggling. After his past unraveled into a torment that claimed nearly his whole family, how could he not be? The only good left in his life is Layla, even if she comes with a pain-in-the-haunches incubus. Dealing with Ink is one more problem he’s ignoring, until the werewolf issues he’s refused to face come for him. A second pack is hunting him and they’re threatening his mother. Cal has no choice but to travel back to Santa Fe and confront them, or lose the last family he has left. While a road trip with Layla sounds nice, Ink has to come along, and the demon keeps driving a growing wedge between Cal and his tenuous grasp on humanity. Cal, Ink and Layla come face to face with an enemy Cal once believed to be nothing but a myth, his claws and fangs useless against their firepower. What do they want with the witch, werewolf and demon? And, most of all, how can they be stopped?

This was my least favourite book so far, since it was from Cal's PoV and not Layla's, but it wasn't bad. Hopefully we'll get a book from Ink's PoV too.

I liked seeing Layla's powers evolve and Ink was as funny as always. We also got less steam this time around.

I'm still excited for whatever comes next (hopefully more Ink and Layla scenes).

Moving Forward

Book 2 in the Coven of Desire Series. This book is Calvin's (werewolf) story and his struggle to accept the death of his brother Eli. He has nearly no family left and the only thing that is holding him together is his relationship with Layla (witch) and her Incubus Ink.

A road trip to check on his mother in Santa Fe brings Cal, Layla and Ink face to face with unexpected dangers and the three must work together to save one another. As Cal's relationship with Layla progresses he finds his tolerance level for Ink increasing; almost to the point of thinking about and constantly staring at Ink when he thinks Ink isn't paying attention. Layla has admitted that age wants both Cal & Ink and because Cal is in love with Layla he has agreed.

Wonder where this relationship will lead to next and how will Layla, Cal and Ink fight against this new threat that almost destroyed them?

Cal gets summoned back to Santa Fe to his mothers house to deal with other werewolf packs questions about Lucien's death. Of course, nothing goes right for Cal and it ends up being a roadtrip with Layla and Ink. Most of the story takes place while on the road and all the obstacles they have to overcome, physical and mental. Cal needs to start living his life and this was cathartic to getting him on the right path to stop living lies. There were some surprises and interesting encounters and while the story didn't go the direction I thought it was, I enjoyed this adventure and want to know what's next.

What do you get when a witch, a werewolf, and a demon take a road trip together? You get one amazingly crazy story.

After dealing with his past, Cal is still suffering from some personal demons. With a summons to Santa Fe, Cal has to deal with a second pack. Not wanting to let him deal with this on his own Layla joins him. Unfortunately for Cal, that means Ink will be there tagging along too. With the pressure to get home and some unexpected threats, can the group get there in one piece?

I liked seeing Cal and Layla’s relationship grow. I love Ink so much! He brings all the laughs. I’m looking forward to the next book and more secrets unveiling.

Enjoy this excerpt from Fang:

I wrung a hand over my chin, frowning at the rising stubble. A pain lingered in the back of my jaw that usually vanished after I transformed out of the wolf.

“It’s stress,” I whispered to myself. The old pipes groaned, slowing the water pressure to a drip, but finally the shower turned warm…then scalding. I twisted the knob, not shifting out of the spray even as my ears burned. They’d probably look funny so bright red against my white-blond hair.

I hated it. One summer, I’d spent every day I could in the cheap-ass city pool, hoping the green tint would be permanent. To finally rip away that mark. We were all stuck with the same eyes, but his hair…

Stop thinking about him. He’s dead. The cult’s…who the fuck cares. They’d gone silent as Thanksgiving became Christmas. I’d tried to keep an eye on the compound, but the sudden downfall of snow made trudging to the woods treacherous—far too easy for guards to track a man or beast in that weather.

The light shifted. I yanked my head from the downpour and was about to spin around when chilled hands cupped around my chest. She pressed her cheek flush with my back, and my rapid heartbeat calmed itself.

“I thought you might like some company,” Layla said, most of the croak gone out of her voice.
Her company was the only thing I wanted anymore. Work. School. Tests. Transformation. Eating. Sleeping—there was no joy to be found in any aspect of my life…except for Layla.

I caught her fingers wafting through my soaked chest hair and pulled them to my lips to kiss her knuckles. Her body caressed against mine, her breasts molding to my back. How I wanted to take both in my palms and tug on her nips until she squeaked. The tuft of her pubic hair grazed my ass and a moan slipped free.

The wolf knew her body’s reactions. It smelled the flush of her skin dewing in arousal. It heard her heartbeat picking up in tempo, the micro-gasps that made no sound to the human ear.

I spun so fast water beads whipped off in all directions. A groggy smile clung to her lips, the humid shower highlighting the petal-pink color against the tawny hue of her skin. Dew drops beaded across her entire body that kicked off a pant in my throat. But it was her eyes that ensnared me, wide in her face and so round they almost looked like perfect spheres. I was entranced with them, with the deep brown color that bore a trace of green in the bright summer light and her dark lashes that brushed to the sides naturally like curtains before a work of art.

“You’re so damn…” I said, but the words in my throat garbled to a growl. I dove for her lips while focusing on her eyes. The jolt of surprise in her irises was eclipsed by hunger, the slow flutter of her lids slipping closed as she folded her hands around my neck and tugged me closer.

Every lingering taste from my dream vanished, my mouth flooding with only Layla. I pressed her pillowy lips open and plunged my tongue inside, needing more of her. All of her. She tugged on my hair, guiding me to kiss her harder than before.

Nip her. Scrape your teeth down her throat. Bite right at the top of her breast until she squeals in delight.

My hand cupped to her neck, causing Layla to break off the kiss. Those wide, beautiful eyes hooded and she turned her jaw to the side. An invitation.

Yes. Bite her. She’ll cream from it.

Running my nose against the hollow behind her ear and down, I trailed my lips to her throat…and placed a soft kiss instead. Layla giggled in delight, while the wolf inside me pouted. It’d had enough attention already.

I received this copy as an advanced reader copy and I loved it! This story is exactly what I needed to get out of my own head. It sucks you in, the emotions are so naturally written it’s easy to forget about the real world. Thank you Ellen for allowing me to forget about the crud going on in my life and creating this amazing world.

This story is all from Cal's POV.
Layla wants to help Cal face his family & history.
Ink wants to have fun.

Less heat than previous books, focusing on story & character building.

I really enjoyed this second book in the Coven of Desire. Having it still be focused on Cal, Layla, and Ink but be in Cal's point of view this time around was a huge selling point since it was mainly his issue that they were dealing with. I loved seeing his thought process and how he handled his wolf side since it was clear how much he was fighting it in the previous book. I'm interested to see if the next book will have the POV switch throughout the book or continue to be the POV of one character through the entire book.

Although it doesn't seem like Layla is working on her magic as much as she should be, she does show a lot of improvement and finesse with her magic this time around and seems a bit more prepared when situations require it. I'm excited to see her powers expand as the series continues and for her to come into her own eventually. She's a very strong character and I like how she takes the witch stereotype that the other supes compare her to and completely twists it. She constantly surprises everyone with her heart and willingness to fight for others and I think that will be a huge game changer in her battles in this series. Creating allies where there normally wouldn't be any is a big advantage for her and her companions.

Along with the battles, chases, and running, Layla's relationship with the guys is touched on a bit as well. There's some steam as well as a lot of confusion as well. It takes some time and I'm sure a few readers may get annoyed with how they handle some things as they book goes on, but it seems that everyone is finally getting on the same page. Things can only look up from here! Can't wait to see what these three get into in the next book!

Layla, Cal and Ink are back. Cal is the main character of the next chapter of this saga. This reluctant trio is working on coming together. Ink pretty much stays away until Layla's desires call to him and Cal hasn't completely accepted the incubus. He understands his purpose and knows that he can't get rid of him but that doesn't mean that he wouldn't like to have his girlfriend all to himself.

Cal got a call from his mother requesting his presence. Readers will get the back story of Cal, Eli and Mark's life while in the cult and after leaving. Someone has to answer for Lucien's death. With Eli gone, Mark has taken the blame and vanished. Cal has to keep the story going and hope that this event won't end badly for his dwindling family. Layla, of course, will not take no for an answer. She is coming on the journey. They find out after a few hours of driving that the bond between Ink and Layla can only be stretched so far. Ink is coming along for the journey.

Along the way they stop in places that are familiar to Cal's childhood. A run into a friend, Mikki. Cal and Mikki used to date and that fact rubs Layla the wrong way. Layla and Cal will eventually come to a head. They have to, right? The chemistry between them is still off the charts. Readers will feel all the emotions.

This book moves very fast with a lot of action. The growing tension between Cal and Ink could be cut with a knife. Can the trio make it work together? There is a little mention of Mark and I hope to hear more about him in the next book of this fast-paced series.

Fang picks up where Claw left off but with Cal in the lead role.

Cal tries to pick up his life after his father, the Alpha of the cult he and his brother were imprisoned in, is murdered. But then he gets a message from his mother that he has to come home. He fears for her safety because of his father's death.
Layla helps him by making her car available, but then she wants to come along. And with her comes Ink, the lust demon bound to her.
Along the way, they brave dangers, run into an acquaintance of Cal and have to fight for their lives. But along the way, Cal and Layla also realize their feelings for each other. The jealousy that Cal feels about Ink fades into the background.

An exciting story with a nymph, witch, hunters and werewolves. The end is open and signals the start of a sequel story. At the end, Mr. White referenced which Claw concluded with. It is still not clear who he is and what his part is in the story and what continues to raise questions. Will his presence be evident in part 3 of this series? And what does Detective Eve want from Layla?

I AM SO GLAD CAL FINALLY GOT HIS HEAD OUT OF HIS A$$

Most of the book I was screaming at Cal to quit being an idiot and actually talk to Layla. They could've developed so much quicker if he'd just talked to her about Ink instead of punishing her for having an incubus bound to her. I love their relationship though! He's such a sweetheart and I love his duality between the sweet and the sexy. I can't wait to see how this threesome goes!

I'm really curious how Layla's powers have developed and what exactly she's capable of. She seems to be much farther along in this book than she was in the last, so I'm curious about where her skill level is. I suppose Cal wouldn't really know in this one since he had his own stuff going on, so I shall eagerly await the next book!

I loved the introduction of new villains also! I can't wait to see how Layla will deal with the hunters, and who are these mysterious detectives? Very curious indeed! What a fun read, and a great addition to this series!

Coven of Desire road trip

I enjoyed this second book in the Coven of Desire series. In contrast to the previous two, this one is written completely in Cal’s POV.

Following on from him killing his dad, the Alpha, in “Claw”, Cal gets a message from his mum that she needs help, another pack is threatening her. Layla suggests a road trip together, which of course means Ink has to come too. Ink adds a lot of humour to the trip, with Cal having nightmares about his dad and a prophesy that the one who kills the Alpha will take his place; I also enjoyed seeing them get to know each other more through the trip.

I liked the reference at the end, linking other characters from the previous book, again hinting towards a much larger story running through the series. I’m looking forwards to find out more in the next book.

Well, the first thing I have to say is that I was surprised by the change in POV. While Ink and Claw were from Layla's POV, Fang is from Cal's, which was very interesting since we get to know a lot about his past, his struggles and his quest to get back to his mother before the pack. I loved many things about this book, like the addition of the nymph Mikki or the hunters, but I kind of missed Layla's perspective. I loved to see her learn about her magic.
It was well written, with a lot of action as usual with this series. The relationship between Layla, Ink and Cal seems to finally begin to settle, which is great because it means we will see more of that in the next book! Can't wait! So, great book, interesting new developments, some mystery to unravel and a great continuation to the series.

Cal gets an alarming call from his mother so he, Layla and Ink are on a road trip to see her.
A call from his mother telling wolf shifter Cal that another pack is threatening her has heading south accompanied by Witch Layla and her bound incubus Ink. Unable to get a flight they start a long road trip to Santa Fe but things soon start to go wrong. The call also bring back the past that Cal has tried to forget causing him to finds sleep hard and hitting him with unexpected flashbacks during the day. He find Ink an annoyance to his feeling for Layla but the journey is only going to get more dangerous as it progresses.

What says it when you start reading like a storm cloud? Fast and with no pause to take in some much needed air for your poor lungs? It says that the book you read is exciting to no end. It says that you are strung like a rubber-band to see what happens next. And then you come to the last chapter and just can’t believe it... that’s when it says you must have the follow up. Like NOW. Thank you very much Ellen Mint for your kindness to leave me in the dark about detective Eve. But thank you so much for this lovely road trip with the witch, the demon, the werewolf and the nymph. I highly enjoyed it.
Enjoy your read!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Cal has to go to Santa Fe because his mom might be in danger and Layla insists on going with him. Of course Ink tags along with his off color remarks. Along the way they rescue Mikki and prevent a fairy war. The reason his mother may have been in danger is because the alpha who was their father was killed. Cal repeats that is was Mark who did it and the pack backed off but warned him to stay out of their territory. The relationship between Cal and Layla is getting stronger and Call is beginning to accept Ink's presence. There may be a new danger on the horizon but it's not clear yet what it might be.

Layla, Cal and Ink are back as the Triad that must get along although some members wish that was not the case. A new problem has come into their lives (Cal's mother needs his help) and this time it is told from Cal’s POV, his past and the demons that haunt him. We also get to see where Layla and Cal’s relationship is going and whether it can survive all the problems thrown at them. And what of Ink? Yeah, he’s still Ink and worth every moment. Two of the characters have been given their moment in the spotlight is Ink story possibly next? If so I can't wait.

After book one imagine a road trip with Ink, Layla, and Cal. Cal has to go to Santa Fe to deal with werewolf issues on Lucien' death and insure his mother's safety. Layla must, of course, go and so Ink will follow.
It is written in Cals POV. Ink makes you lol as he did before. Laylas powers are growing in this book. Being in Cal's pov we get better look at the struggle he has with his wolf's side. You get more of his emotion and side of things that helps develop his character more. I hope with the pattern the author is following, we get ink's pov and learn more about this sexy mind reading lust demon lol.

I received an arc copy and this is my honest review.

Fang was just amazing to read. It's told entirely from Cal's point of view and the whole time my eyes were pricking with unshed tears.
We learn a bit more of his backstory and meet new characters. The overarching plot is thickening and teasing little snippets about the mysterious Mr. White.

The relationship between Cal and Layla further develops but not without some turbulence, and personally I'm kinda hoping for some bromance or sexy fun times with Cal and Ink , and Cal, Ink & Layla.

Overall a very well written novel and can't wait for the rest 👏👏👏👏👏

A werewolf, a demon, a witch and a Nymph take a road trip across country. Excellent story, humorous and emotional in equal parts, Cal the werewolf is summoned across country to protect his mother, accompanied by Layla and her bonded demon ink. Encountered with mysterious hunters and a Nymph ex make life more interesting. There is a lot of backstory with these characters especially Cal so reading the first book would help with this. This is a entertaining and satisfying read. I received a complimentary coy from Storyorigin and am leaving a honest voluntary review.

This is book two of the Coven of Desire series. I really enjoyed this book as it’s actually in a different POV from the previous two books (including the prequel) this being from Cal’s perspective. It gave us a new insight into his past which I really loved and makes me wonder who’s POV will be the next book or if perhaps it will be mixed in future. This series has such a well written storyline that just drags you in and won’t let go and does such a great job of creating this world. The characters are developing beautifully in this PNR RH. 🖤

Traditionally a road trip is full of fun, often more about the fun times than the actual destination. But this road trip brings up a lot of memories for Cal, while he continues to grieve. One he would rather not take but he needs to protect his mother.
While they face new threats and emotions, Layla's new powers are put to the test. Ink on the other hand, continues to be the fun loving character squished into the back seat trying to lighten the mood with his innuendo's. We do get to see a new side of Ink within this novel.

In this book we are in Cal’s POV and what a head he has. This book is a continuation from Claw so that will need to be read first. We are thrown in after the events of Claw and the group is dealing with the aftermath. Cal gets word that his family is in danger and so they take off to help. Along the way we meet new characters and learn some new things about Cal. I really liked seeing his progression of confidence in this book. We can really see some character growth and he proves he is worthy to be with Layla.

This is a great shifter paranormal romance with strong characters and an interesting story line. The author does a great job building the story and painting her scenes perfectly. She had me hooked from start to finish reading. It's well written with a few surprises along the way. It moves quickly and smoothly and is an adventurous read.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

Cal, Layla, and Ink's Road-trip . . .

Cal has to return to Santa Fe to deal with a werewolf pack when they threaten his mother. It means a road trip with Layla and Ink, who tries to drive them apart. They have many obstacles to deal with while on the road trip. Cal needs to deal with his own demons and build a stronger relationship with the others. Can he resolve any of his problems this time?

Wonderful continuation for the Coven of Desire

Loved having Cals POV to learn so much more about his past and to see his love for Layla through his eyes. 😍 I really like how the additional plot line that will lead to the left book wasn’t just tossed in there, the books feed into each other really well. I missed a little bit of the Ink/Layla spice, but I’m super excited about the growing understanding between them all and the developing spicy action!

Fang, the second book in the Coven of Desire by Ellen Mint, was just a bundle of chaos.... but in the best way. With Cal heading to Santa Fe and suffering through personal issues, Layla follows him in hopes to support him. It's so lovely to see their relationship grow and Ink is really an intriguing character. This series is perfect for getting you out of any reading slump, as long as you enjoy spice! Can't wait for the next book in the series and seeing where the characters take us next!

Things are heating up! I loved that this was in Carl’s POV. This author has an incredible vocabulary and she ties in all of the small details. The first book was kind of annoying with how Cal kept ditching Layla literally right after they attempted to get closer to each other several times. There’s none of that in this book and I thought this one was much better put together as far as that storyline goes.
