Originally published in 1965. This volume presents a systematic study of Rumi’s rebirth into a total being. By studying the elements of Persian culture, as well as the unique writings of Rumi, the author reveals the characteristics of maturity, the qualities of final integration in identity, health, and happiness that underlie Rumi’s life and work.
In a nutshell, removing "i" self to acquire "I" self, to gain cosmic self through the journey of shedding "nafs"- desire/hunger and the path of final integration is the core point of Sufism. It is a process of repeated rebirth of a soul until the soul receives final consciousness. Rumi intended to achieve the cosmic self through love. Denying the materialistic world and sacrificing the animalism of self, one can reach the path of " baqa"- the state of consciousness.
