This book was one that I wish was available to me when I was in high school. It made so much of that era, of Cromwell and his reasoning and his goals, understandable and even reasonable.
I was so interested in the tale that after it was told, I researched to see the lineage of Charles I, who of course figures largely in the tale. I checked to see who ruled after Charles, clear up to the modern day. A dynasty with a ruler brought to a human light by the skill of the author and flow of this book.
It could only have one outcome, but still it riveted me.
