This book was sent to me in exchange for an honest review.

Picture Day, the second book in the FrightVision series, follows a boy named Eli whose braces get a zaaap from the camera on picture day. Now he is stuck in a Groundhog Day loop, reliving the horrors of picture day over and over!

This was a cute and funny addition to the FrightVision series. The formula of the story will be familiar to adults, but kids who are unfamiliar with Bill Murray movies will most likely find the story unpredictable and fun. I particularly enjoyed the wholesome relationships between the characters and the "romance" between Eli and his crush. It's freaking adorable and feels like a real childhood crush. The writing is also a little more polished than the previous book in the series. 3.5 stars!

I read this to my 7 year old daughter in one day. We just finished the cursed coin, book 1 of frightvision, and she couldn’t wait to get started on this one! One started she refused to let me stop until we made it to the end.

It’s definitely less scary than the previous book, but still has some “odd” and “strange” to it.

We are working our way through all of the Frightvision books. I was slightly worried about my 7 year old understanding the story progression but both of these books she had no problems following along and engaging in questions I asked her. It was a great experience!

As book 2 in a series, it definitely is able to stand alone. There’s nothing in this book that depends on book 1 for you to understand.

I also enjoy that they don’t leave you on a horrible cliffhanger, but definitely wanting more!

I have trouble not comparing this to Goosebumps but I do love that it's more realistic in the fears and the ending. I love the diversity and that herstory line made me smile so big!! I kept seeing the camera as the one from Say Cheese And Die and the cameraman as Spidey lol. Sorry but I couldn't help it. Even though I never wore a retainer I can totally relate to hating picture day. I highly recommend this book.

Dreaded picture day when in high school, but when I was younger I found it exciting. This book gives me a whole new perspective on the day. I read it with my daughter. We always seemed to want "one more chapter". Recommend for upper grades in elementary and middle schoolers.

Well, I can definitely say I've never read anything like this book before. I don't even want to do a spoiler review, so I'll just say read this book for yourself if you want to know how good it is. You won't be disappointed!

If you loved RL Stine and his Goosebumps books, you will love this book! Each book in the series can be read as a standalone, so don’t worry about going in order…I read this book with my 8 year old son and we had the best time with it. I believe the FrightVision series is geared towards kids 8–12 years old and my 8 year old thought it was perfect for him.

In the second book in the series, Picture Day, Eli Green is a kid who is very excited about his school’s picture day. He’s always taken really bad school pictures but this year, he has his braces off and is looking forward to having a great picture. But he forgets to take his retainer out and it really ruins his day.

There is also a little twist at the end that made my son and I both laugh out loud once we figured it out. We are getting ready to read another in the series now! I highly recommend this for kids in the appropriate age group.

This is the second book in the FrightVision series. I have to admit I was a little let down by this book. I thought The Cursed Coin (first book in FrightVision series) was much better than this book. While I feel it is well-written, it didn’t really keep me engaged throughout the story.
My son, on the other hand, thought the book was great.

(Spoiler alert): The main character (Eli) has had a bad history with picture day at school, but is determined to get a good pic this year. After some confusing events and experiencing some troubling symptoms, Eli finds out he is stuck in a time loop.

Part of my problem with this book is that it is like reading the screenplay for the Groundhog Day movie. It started to get redundant and I found myself just skimming over parts that I’d already read before.

Overall, I give this book 2.5-3.0 stars. The story isn’t horrible, but could probably be better.

Kids who might be too sensitive for Goosebumps, but want a good introduction to a spooky book, may like this.
