I found this book very interesting. It delved deeply into the history of colonial Pennsylvania from its very beginnings.

Idiosyncratic and somwhat dated history of colonial Pennsylvania. Topics covered include Dutch and Swedes, Quakers, Germans, Moravians, Scotch-Irish and Presbyterians, etc. My favorite is "The Connecticut Invasion", wherein the author relates how Connecticut attempted to claim the Wyoming valley in northeastern Pennsylvania by sending settlers there staring in the 1750s, and attempted to justify their control by referring to the original Connecticut charter that granted them land all the way eest to the Pacific Ocean. The disputes lasted several decades, and led to repeated evictions and even bloodshed. The issue was not fully resolved until 1810!
