Goodnight Baxter

Rate this book
Here is a charming and beautifully illustrated tale with a story line that speaks to children who resist sleeping at night-as well as to their parents. The universal story of an irrepressible puppy, filled with humorous moments and amusing phrases that children enjoy repeating, also touches on themes of taking responsibility for a pet and growing accustomed to new surroundings.

Funny art but no real plot. He’s a needy dog.

This book really made me think about the dangers and heartaches that arise when parents are hesitant to let their children sleep in their bed all the time. I found myself really relating to Baxter. I really felt his pain as his friend tried to give him the pacifier. He didn't want a pacifier, he wanted to sleep with Mommy and to push daddy onto the floor with a bone crunching thump.

This book made me grateful that my momma is a hippie who lets me sleep in her bed.
