A Bee in Your Bonnet?

Rate this book
From the author of The Cat's Pyjamas comes another astonishing compendium of origins, customs and beliefs. Why is a police informant called a "grass"? What have the bee's knees got to do with excellence? What was the name of Lady Godiva's horse? In polite society, can you speak of the weather being cold enough to freeze the ball off a brass monkey?

I don't get the extra low rating this book got. I picked it up for 50c from a local fete and it chock full of origin stories for products and anecdotes.
Why do brides wear 'something blue'?
Why are the UK police referred to as "the Bill"
How did 66 come to be known as the number of the beast?
Where did the term "flogging a dead horse" come from?
All of this information comes about from a wee google search these days but a small compendium and nice to own.
