Right since its inception; there has been a tradition in the RSS of not highlighting the work of an individual; so the lives and work done by the Sarsanghchalaks have not been discussed publicly much. The general perception is that the RSS chief (Sarsanghchalak) is one of the most powerful persons in the country as he holds swayover millions of swayamsevaks (volunteers) and dozens of organisations run by these swayamsevaks including the Bharatiya Janata Party which rules at the Centre as well as in several states. But what is the truth? What role Sarsanghchalaks have played in shaping the RSS? This well researched book takes one through the lives of the five Sarsanghchalaks who had steered RSS since its inception through one of its most tumultuous years. It tells a hitherto untold story about not only the lives of the Sarsanghchalaks but also the journey of the RSS itself.
Finally finished this book that contains a lot of details about how Rashtriya swayamsevak sang ( RSS ) founded and how they kept this organisation keep working for the nation whenever needed.
5 leaders and their way of handling or leading this organisation are well described in this book. The book shows the working of these 5 Chaalak or the head of RSS towards the nation and this organisation.
I liked the way D.r Keshav Balaram Hedgewar found this organisation and put his all efforts to keep engaging Patriotic people from all over the country. Wherever he got a chance to build a new shakha he built that and kept working for this organisation till his last breath.
Well, I want everyone to read this book to know about the RSS and their working for the nation and how patriotic they are. Till now they are trying to serve India in the best way and they are doing it very well.
Recommended to those who are interested in reading about history.
.This book is the miscounces removal book for organization like RSS. Everyone here about RSS but very less people know about this . This book tells everything like what is RSS? , What is their work? How , when , where and by whom this found ?.
📚.The Saffron Surge is written by Arun Anand. Through this book we come to know about the lives and work of sarsangh chalaks. They worked hard and never cared for any publicity. The chief of RSS is the most powerful person in the country and have control over dozens of swayam sevaks and many organisations.
📚.The Life of Five leaders is presented in the Book Namely,
1.) Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar 2.) Madhav Sadahiv Golwalkar 3.) Balasaheb Deoras 4.) Professor Rajendra Singh 5.) K.S. Sudarshan
. 📚. Language of this book is good and classy . Title of story absolutely attract readers . I recommend it to every reader in India.
This book by Arun Anand truly uncovers the untold journey of the RSS from its inception to the gigantic organization that it is today. Given the current situation in the country, the book title is apt and totally relates to the "surge". The book reveals the challenges faced, sacrifices made, their contributions, and extoll the wonderful, dynamic, and magnetic personalities that the five stalwarts of the RSS leadership lineage i.e., Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar(the founder), Madhav Sadahiv Golwakar s.k.a Guruji, Balasaheb Deoras, Professor Rajendra Singh and the perfectionist Kuppalli Sitaramayya Sudarshan.
Being staunch and ideal Hindu patron, the words of Dr. Keshav are very enlightening and true to the core, "The Hindu culture is the life-breath of Hindusthan. It is, therefore, clear that if Hindusthan is to be protected, we should first nourish the Hindu culture. If the Hindu culture perishes in Hindusthan itself, and if the Hindu society ceases to exist, it will hardly be appropriate to refer to the mere geographical entity that remains as Hindusthan. Mere geographical lumps do not make a nation. Unfortunately, the Congress organization has given no thought to protecting the Hindu Dharma and Hindu culture. The organization keeps its eyes closed to the daily onslaughts by outsiders on the Hindu society. It is to fulfill this duty of protecting the Hindu society that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has come into existence. But the Sangh harbors no ill-will towards the Congress. The Sangh will co-operate with the Congress in the efforts to secure freedom, as long as these efforts do not come in the way of preserving our national culture. The Sangh has indeed been co-operating with the Congress all along."
He was a hard taskmaster and had the utmost dedication, his fiery nature could be seen in his words, "Even if death were to stare us in the face, we are not to shirk in our path; we have to keep the ultimate goal constantly burning in our mind and calmly carry on the fight".
Dr.Keshav clearly states the definition of a swayamsevak and I am sure there can be no better explanation than his, "A swayamsevak is one who would lovingly lay down his life for the all-round upliftment of the nation. To create and mold such swayamsevaks is the aim of the Sangh. There is no distinction between a ‘swayamsevak’ and a ‘leader’ in Sangh. All of us are swayamsevaks and are, therefore, equal. We love and respect everybody equally. We give no room for any differences in status. This is, in fact, the secret of the remarkable growth of the Sangh in such a short period without any outside help, money, or publicity."
For the people who would like to know more about the RSS and the ideals it practices and carries forward, this book contains the right amount of information and I can surely say that this is the result of humongous research.
Finally finished this book with lots of unanswered questions in my mind.
The book is the origin story of RSS, and their work process throughout the years till now. No doubt I loved the storytelling of the author. It does not feel like a documentation of some modern Indian historical incidents. Arun Anand has written it in an interesting way.
It covers the details of 5 famous leaders of RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh), and the position of RSS in Indian political history. The journey of RSS and how they helped Congress in many ways, and how they saved Hindus from the atrocities committed by Muslims before the birth of independent India-Pakistan.
The book has taught me many things, and it has increased my interest for the books related to Indian history.
It is a nice approach to make us understand the value of Hindu ruled political agendas, but being as a responsible citizen of 21st century's India, I think culture, religion, emotions everything is important ofcourse, but if you do not have job and money then your religion will not feed you.
May be I would have liked the book if I read it in 2014-2016. But now I don't feel anything for all these theories when India's Gross Domestic Product growth rate contracted by 23.9%, when there are a lot of things going on which I do not want to mention here.
You can definitely read this book as it is error free, easy to read, well researched.
The saffron surge is the story of India's enormous organisation RSS' leaders also known as sar sanghchalaks. RSS has always been an interesting organisation which have roots is all Indian states & a large number of volunteers known as swayamsevaks. As we can see every organisation works on a limited field but RSS' approach is vast which is the result of the devotion of the leaders- sarsanghchalaks. The first sarsanghchalak Dr Keshav baliram hedgevar founded this organisation in 1925. The initial phase of RSS can be understood by Dr Hedgevar's life. It is founded for establishing unity & harmony in India to create a strong base for the nation. The life of Dr Hedgevar is inspiring as well as gives many messages. As he is a doctor, he refuses to take duty under British government & served people as his own. A fully energetic personality with a brilliant mind. The second personality discussed in this book is Madhav Sadashiv golvalkar aka Shree guruji. He was a brilliant thinker as well as an acute speaker. His grip on various national & social issues was thoughtful & his leadership skills were also glorious. He was the first sarsanghchalak who suffered resistance from the government a lot & faces many ups & down throughout his life. The third sarsanghchalak Balasahed deoras had a strong grip on the ground. His works on social matters & particularly for caste discrimination is remarkable. The fourth one Prof. Rajendra Singh aka rajju bhaiya & fifth one K.S. Sudarshan successfully fulfilled their duties & give a strong base to snagh. I appreciate this work because there is a lot of literature which criticise Sangh but neither any told it's history nor about the personalities behind this organisation. It is informative, historical & authentic book with valid information from documents. Overall I like this book. A must-read book for history lovers.
RSS or Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh as author states has been an enigma for many (particularly for me). Accidently I tripped over this book which has given me a chance to understand this large organisation. I looked author style of narrating the story (history) of RSS, rather than speaking about (only about) the organisation the author in this book has shared the life of it's members - Sarsanghchalak.
The book begins with the story of founder and India at that time, here comes the tale of Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar aka Doctorji. Next comes the tale of the second Sarsanghchalak of RSS Madhav Sadahiv Golwalkar aka Guruji. Doctorji gave the basic image and structure for the organisation and Guruji worked and succeeded in spreading the organisation throughout the corners of India. Next comes Madhukar Dattatraya Deoras popularly known as Balasaheb Deoras, one among the first batch of swayamsevaks joining RSS at ‘Mohite Baada’ in Nagpur. After Balasaheb Deoras, the responsibility of leading RSS was given to Professor Rajendra Singh aka Rajju Bhayya. I knew few things about Rajju Bhayya but could gain a clear image (about him) from this book. Last but not the least comes the tale (history) of Kuppalli Sitaramayya Sudarshan the 'perfectionist', a person who worked for swayamsevaks and society will his last breath.
Thus book is a brilliant work because this not only narrates the journey of RSS but the book also works as a journal where we get to learn the characters we should develop in our life. I find the book a perfect Self-Help book.
Book name: The saffron surge: untold story of RSS Leadership
Author : Arun Anand
No. Of pages: 216
Finally finished this book, it was a very long and difficult read for me. it is a nonfiction book, revolving around RSS Rastriya Swayamsevak sang. It is truly an untold story. Before reading this book, I didn’t know about existence of RSS and I believe many of us wouldn’t know about. I am particularly not interested in such books, and hence it was very difficult for me to get through and probably took too much time also. But one particular reason I chose this book despite not being interested in the genre is, I wanted to know this untold story. I had always loved listening to the stories from the times before independence and during independence, and in schools we have read about various organizations but I had never read or heard about RSS. And its kind of felt I was missing on something important and I wanted to know. And it is very important to know about RSS. And I believe this story is worth knowing, RSS deserves to be known. The book is written in a very easy language, and has discussed about each sarsangchalak in detail. This book is informative and very inspiring. I would recommend this book to all, as I feel it is an important organization which deserves to be recognized.

Book review :- 21 Book name :- THE SAFFRON SURGE Book language :- English Book Author :- Arun anand Book page strength:- 240 pages ( hardcover)
:- RSS being one of the most talkative organization in the public and with many contusions regarding this organisation .
And it's all bcs of the lack of written resources of rss organization in the past as they don't believe to keep written notes and they don't highlight their work .
It's their perception .
Yaa offcourse it is a religious organization and we all know that Bharatiya Janata party on of the biggest party is associated with it and as book mentioned it works in co ordination with it .
The General perception is that the RSS chief (sarsanghchalak) is one of the most powerful persons in the country as bjp works co-ordinate with it .
This Book is written after a lot of research on these five leaders.
The Life of Five leaders is presented in the Book Namely,
1.) Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar 2.) Madhav Sadahiv Golwalkar 3.) Balasaheb Deoras 4.) Professor Rajendra Singh 5.) K.S. Sudarshan
The author's research and insight for this book is quite appreciable .
The book begins with the story of founder and India at that time, here comes the tale of Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar aka Doctorji. Next comes the tale of the second Sarsanghchalak of RSS Madhav Sadahiv Golwalkar aka Guruji. Doctorji gave the basic image and structure for the organisation and Guruji worked and succeeded in spreading the organisation throughout the corners of India and all the leaders come consecutively.
I must say a book which we should read to know the facts of the past and prejudices that we all have in our mind about rss can be clarified either right or wrong after reading it .
Afterall I don't support politics in religion and religion in politics both are harmful .
And rest depends on the reader how the they take it.

🇮🇳Yet another book about the role of RSS in the struggle for independence India. I loved the title of this book a lot, so one vote for that. Secondly I liked the story and the way of describing the serial events that took place. Lastly, the untold story of Sarsanghchalaks that the author has written about, whose struggles aren’t quite came into light until now.
🇮🇳Anand not only showed their stories of struggles and bravery but also the fact that many, from many I mean a lot of people whose struggles and freedom stories are buried down and none of us really know that until someone comes up with a book and tells us.
🇮🇳The book mainly projects the principle pillar of leaders of RSS: * Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar * Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar * Balasaheb Deoras * Prof. Rajendra Singh * K.S. Sudarshan
🇮🇳Truly an inspiring and about leadership. This book is recommended to all who are seeking leadership, irrespective of the field you are in to.
I try to stay away from politics or anything related to it, but when a book dwells into the foundations of somethings as big as the RSS, and throws light on it's humble roots, I got intrigued. The Saffron Surge by Arun Anand is one such political ideology book that gives a lot of previously unknown information without the washed out taint of today's media. . This book narrates the story of the lives of five Sarsanghchalak who were the people behind the early days of RSS. I really liked the book narrated the story with a clear perspective and did not attempt to sway people's ideologies or talk about how crude the political world can be. It was an engaging read and learning about these people's lives and how things were formed back then was worth every penny. The style of writing is really appreciative. I also liked the cover of the book and the title is catchy and apt. Loved the book. Final Rating 4.3.

Every institution that is established has certain core values that are incorporated in from its initial members and the members that actually establish it and make its spread possible. The saffron surge is also the story of the progress, establishment and nurturing of RSS, and how various leader came together to build a team and society that worked towards people welfare. It's very important to know the basic functionality and how various people of entirely different background, knowledge and upbringing, build the leadership and companionship and gave life to such a big institution, it is also important to keep n notice that although these leaders had different lifestyle and upbringing in their initial years, there values, their zeal to work and their principles were similar, and maybe, therefore, they could continue the work that was left by the previous leader. Someone who wants to have an insight into the evolution of RSS can look forward to this book and give it a read.

"Faith is realising that you always get what you need." ~ Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
This book is a detailed account of the RSS leadership mainly the 5 leaders who worked their way through to make it tough. The author definitely has done a great deal of reasearch to put forth the information regarding the said party & its working. It also adds some of the incidents involving Mahatama Gandhi. The writing is error free. However, I'm not an ardent fan of reading history of any political party. But for those, who prefer history of this kind may pick this one. The title is uniquely chosen with a good cover to match it.
Honestly, I'm not a fan of political books. But this one intrigued me. This is because there isn't a lot about the RSS in the current curriculum of school books. So I had very little knowledge regarding RSS until I read this book.
This book talks about the role of RSS in the need of the hour during freedom movement, the idea of Hindutva and true leadership.
Moreover, the opposition and media has somewhat mislead the public regarding the RSS. It's important to read this gen of a book because it helps us learn about our culture, our country, our government and most importantly patriotism and true leadership. 💫
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
