MY THOUGHTS:
First and foremost...why did I wait so long to review this book? Urggh! I looked it up to add to my Goodreads shelf and discovered that NO ONE HAD REVIEWED IT!! This is one of my all-time favorite books and NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT IT. Humph.
Second: This book is hard core and not for the faint-hearted. It contains scenes of sexual sadism that involve pain play, bondage, anal intercourse, orgasm denial and humiliation--and these are just some of the more ordinary things. It is perfect for many of my book friends who hate their erotic romance sweet. LOL
Phaze Publications released this book in 2010. I purchased it shortly after it was released. I have re-read it many times since. When I am feeling in the mood for some particularly down and dirty, hard-core, kinky, deviant, sadistic sex, I pull Verasheyan up on my Kindle. It is one of those rare books that you can read and re-read and it never fails to fascinate (or make me glad to see my sweetie walk in the door).
The basic story line is that of a hermaphrodite alien who has run afoul of the military power structure by aligning himself/herself with the wrong man and then having the misfortune to be captured. In an effort to extract sensitive information from the alien about his employer, the military calls upon the services of a consumate dominant, Zane, and the femme-domme that he trained, Nell. What follows is a trip into mind control and submission using a wide-ranging assortment of sexual stimulation and orgasm denial--among other devious tortures.
However, no matter how well described, sex doesn't affect me (insert "turn me on") unless I can make an emotional connection with the character and J. Trout serves up appealing main characters in spades. You come to care about Reshayn and sympathize with his plight. You feel for Nell and the tortured past she is trying to overcome and finally, you wish you had a Master Zane in your life. .
For those of you who like their sex with strong elements of sadism and don't mind a well-presented sci-fi fantasy, I highly recommend Verashyen by J. Trout. Five big stars! The only down-side is that at $6.00 it is pricey. I figure if I divide the number of times I read it into that $6.00, this book probably cost me $0.25.
