Sam doesn't like going to the dentist, not one little bit. Hiding under the dentist's chair, he is definitely not going to budge. But Mr Murgatroyd, the dentist, has seen much trickier customers than Sam and he distracts Sam with stories about all his other peculiar patients.

Miss 3 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.
This was a dentist themed picture book that I chose. She loves it. I'm not sure if it'll make a difference when we actually go to her dentist appointment but it was definitely fun to read and she loved spotting things like the bird egg, and the feathers, and all the baby crocodiles etc

Sam's dentist tells him all the adventures he's had helping different patients with their teeth. Sam does not like going to the dentist, but then, who does? Dr. Murgatroyd, the dentist, explains to the unbudging Sam, who is hiding under the dentist chair, that he has had to treat many a nervous, and peculiar, patient before. There's been a hippo with a toothache; a beaver who just couldn't stop nibbling; and a crocodile with a whole mouthful of surprises! Before you know it, Sam's mouth is open wide, his fear replaced with laughter, and parents and children have been shown a new and humorous approach to dealing with new experiences.
