Yesterday's Bride
The undercover assignment--protecting an amnesia victim from a ruthless killer--should have been simplicity itself. But the more time Detective Nick Davis spent watching over this beautiful, mysterious woman, the more obsessed he was with the possibility that she was really someone who had haunted his dreams for years--the beloved wife he had believed to be dead ....
The woman who called herself Elizabeth Gleason knew nothing about who she had been before an accident shattered her memory. But something--perhaps some secret out of her shadowed past--had put her life in danger. And now Nick Davis was in danger of losing the woman he loved--maybe for the second time ....

This was really good and it's disappointing that this is apparently the only book the author wrote, aside from cookbooks. (???)
While I could compliment myself on guessing some of the story (including the "whodunit" aspects), to be fair I could also be a bit dense, like when I didn't pick up on the reason the H left his house with a glass of water, an obvious means of getting fingerprints, while nincompoop me thought he was just in a hurry and decided to drink the water on the way! (Can you get any dumber???)
it's still a very good story, and
There were some parts of the story that were flawed, like the h foolishly going back to the soup kitchen at a very risky time, which led up to a part of the story that I thought was too melodramatic. Also, that gang leader that turned out to be a help to the h just disappeared from the story, when it would have been nice to have some follow-up info, like if he was going to get his life on track and be a better person, like the h seemed to think he could be.
But it's still a very good story and (at least to me) worth four stars.
