Keeping her hopes alive

This the first story I’ve read by Kathryn Jayne and won’t be the last. The setting is in the land of Mython, over two hundred years after the end of the world as we know it.
Driven frantic by the disappearance of her boyfriend Raiden only a week after the death of her father, Maya decides to give up her ambition to become a surgeon following in the steps of her father, and concentrate all her efforts on finding her boy friend. After qualifying, she transfers to the Medics in a desperate attempt to trace him via hospital records. To her friends, and even her best friend Carley, her sudden decision to change her career is put down to reaction to the trauma of her father’s death. Despite all her efforts, no trace of her boyfriend can be found.
In her new role as a medic, she constantly checks the streets on patrol in an effort to keep her hopes alive. As time goes by, strange rumours begin to circulate about the patients whose lives she has saved who begin to turn up dead, the target of a serial killer. Viewed as the only apparent link with the killings, Mya is called upon by the police to cooperate with their investigations and is warned she could be the next potential victim on the list.
Just as her life is in imminent danger, her lost love turns up to save her under a new identity, in a new twist of the plot that explains everything. I take my hat off at the ingenious way the story is brought to a conclusion by the author that will leave her readers breathless at the turn of events. Without doubt, a highly recommended read.

It wasn't just the fact Raiden had vanished without a trace, it was that no one even remembered the man who had brought so much joy to her life. Determined to find him she transfers to the medics, keeping watch on the streets hoping to find him. But recently something strange has been happening, people whose lives she has saved are turning up dead, targeted by a serial killer whose sole focus seems to be on her. Can she uncover the serial killers motives before it's too late?

Rekindled Sparks by Kathryn Jayne is yet another standalone sweet romance from the Tales of Mython series. I have to say, wow, there was a surprise in this book I just didn't see coming, it was one of those that, now I've read the book, I really want to discuss with everyone because it was simply a work of genius. Having read all the previous stand alone books in the series, I have to admit, Raiden and Maya may be my favourite couple, there is an electricity between them that can't be ignored. Danger, surprises, and romance, this book will keep you on the edge of your seats, and you're bound to love the surprise as much as I did, because I've never seen it done before, and I read a lot.
