The aim of 16-19 Mathematics has been to produce a course which, while challenging, is accessible and enjoyable to all students. The course develops ability and confidence in mathematics and its applications, together with an appreciation of how mathematical ideas help in the understanding of the world and society in which we live. This • helps foster a deeper understanding of rates of change; • develops an understanding of the product, quotient and chain rules; • fosters a facility in the techniques of differentiation and integration; • develops an awareness of the relative strengths and limitations of numerical and analytical techniques; • develops efficiency in the solution of problems using appropriate methods.
Has been useful going back over some of these old ideas from A level calculus for a refresher of some of the basic methods and principles and filling in some of the gaps in my knowledge, where my better logic and algebra ability now allows me to.
