How to approach this book!

Simple, understandable, somewhat relatable, even on the inside!
The author himself considers his book to be pretty basic and unassuming, but in fact it sounds quite useful, honest, and more importantly, moving.
The psychological side of the process is sufficiently exposed and exemplified, without being imposed in any way.

OK, we can agree that most of the stuff and conclusions there are just common sense, but how about the personal account - no one else could ever be 'you', right. So, in that sense, the book is unique indeed.

The language is authentic and strong, apparently, but thus it makes its point very clear.
Moreover, I was glad to learn that there is a 'cleaner' version.
Nonetheless, there is definitely a dry sense of humor throughout, which makes reading more enjoyable.

Therefore, maybe there is room for publishing different editions - just an idea.
Strictly speaking, the style and editing of the narrative were quite consistent and virtually error-free, which is commendable in itself. I even suspect it has been professionally edited.

Finally, I suppose this book could be helpful not only for people who are overweight, but also for those who are underweight, or have eating disorders of any kind.

Recommended to health-conscious people who want to lead a better lifestyle in any sense.

Keep fit and enjoy life!

This is not your typical "how to lose weight" self-help book that's more about selling copies in airports than accomplishing it. This is a guy who actually did the damn thing, and this book is exactly an explanation of how. It doesn't promise a One Weird Trick that solves your problems without having to do anything, and it doesn't spend 300 pages trying to legitimize the latest fad and explain how this time, this system is really the one that'll work (as long as you buy the whole book series). It's totally honest and straightforward about the real challenges and how he overcame them without being prescriptive. The minute details of what to eat and how to exercise aren't important as much as understanding the reasons why you're doing those things and finding the ways to do them that actually meet those goals. It's almost as impressive in its simplicity as it is in its effectiveness, showing you what an incredible accomplishment the author has achieved while also making you really, truly believe that you can absolutely do this thing too.

This is not your typical self-help or self-improvement book. It's better.

Books in this genre are usually full of fluff. Lots of words for the sake of words, maybe even chapters for the sake of chapters. They lose their impact because you have to get through so much rubbish to understand what the author is trying to say. And even then the author can come across as arrogant or that their book is their way of saying 'I'm so great, give me your money.'

This book is short, on purpose. It says what the author wants to say and moves on. There's repetition to enforce the message and anecdotes to back up the points but at no point reading it did I feel like I was reading a self-help book. I felt like I was reading a story from a friend who was trying to help.

It's not a triumph of literature, but it's written well enough to be read in a couple of hours with hints and tips and stories to inform, follow, and inspire.

Well... I was going to have a second beer before I started this book and then I decided not to after I finished it! Chris’s experience is relatable and his approach to weight loss is practical and non-gimmicky. Finding the right motivation to not only lose weight but keep it off is central to this book. Very well written and approachable.

Great motivational read!

They say brevity is the soul of wit, it may also be the key to weight loss. Chris has an extremely motivational tale, and his tale is relatable and hopefully repeatable for anyone else looking to lose weight. I’ve known the author for a long time and he’s definitely a pretty cool guy.

I like this book a lot but to be completely honest, I also wrote it so I might be biased. It's deeply personal and rather candid, with a fair bit of humor sprinkled in along the way

How I stopped being a fatty.

How I stopped being a fatty was a really insightful book. Make no mistake about the word fatty being used in a derogatory manner as the author firmly apologized, explaining what that term really means to him.

This book, of course follows the author as we watch/read about him loosing 170 pounds which I think is pretty impressive. One thing I really loved was his writing style. It was captivating in a way that he's not trying to tell you this would change your life. If it changes your life, then the author made an impact and if it doesn't, then, that's cool too.

Another thing I picked was, how long it takes our body to know that we are full. In his words, "for whatever reason, our big dumb bodies take a full twenty minutes to alert our brains that we are in fact full."

It also emphasizes on how support from your family or loved ones is very important.

If you are not looking to shed weight, reading this book in terms of your life goals also helps. For instance: learning to take things slow, making little progress with your goals and learning to stick with a schedule that works for you. If you relapse, it's okay, but don't give up.

"Here's one objective truth about any weight-loss regiment: you will fail sometimes. Everybody does. If you fall, get back up for the next meal. Don't write off the whole day or weekend or week just because you fucked up once. Don't do this whole, well, I'll start again Monday since I just had a bad meal Saturday. Bullshit. This is a trap people fall into which causes their attempts to be unsuccessful."

So if you're looking to loose weight, get disciplined, incorporate new, healthy habits into your life and stick with it then this is the book for you.

Short, honest and vivid. Would be recommending it to others. 10/10.

Big thanks to @booktasters and the author for a free copy of the e-book.

Loved it!

Much appreciation to you for this book. Written in a straightforward friend to friend manner, this fundamental book is an author's excursion from being fat to being sound. Coming up next are two or three stunning tips. This isn't your ordinary personal growth guide. It's more about selling pantomimes at the flight terminal than accomplishing that. It's totally affirmed and direct about the bona fide troubles and how he vanquished them whether he wasn't normalizing. The intricacy of what you eat and how you practice isn't basic, yet you'll comprehend the defense for why you're doing those things and track down ways of managing appear at those objectives for sure. Good to go!

An amazing story ! The way Chris narrates his story is capturing . From the onset of the book one really wants to go on and discover how he did it. It becomes a strong inspirational book as it is written by someone who has been through the weight losing experience . A good read for one who really wants to lose weight as they are to learn that with dedication there is light at the end of the channel .

The author shared his experience of successfully losing weight and keeping it. It's easy to read and understand, without lots of difficult concepts or theories. Although I have never been fat during my life, the experience is also helpful. When I feel anxious, I overthink - it's like my brain is getting too 'fat'! The essential problems are similar. I'm trying lots of practices to improve my situation, too. And I agree with the author that it's a change of the entire lifestyle, not just a particular part which you are not happy with.

Chris Wayne is sharing his own personal story with everyone struggling to lose weight or needs help and support throughout their journey.

The writing seems to be coming from the heart and shows that Chris really aims to help everyone. It’s a light and rather fun read, in some parts you’ll find yourself smiling when you relate to some situations.

The book is organized and easy to follow and I didn’t get bored in any part of it.

The book takes you into 5 stages that builds up gradually and help you to maintain a healthy life style and actually stick to it.

I finished the book in one sitting and I feel motivated and really excited to start my healthy life style journey!

A nice summary of one guy's weight loss success. Some of the tips are not surprising, but good to see they work. Others seemed new and useful. Mostly it's great to see it is possible, without doing anything really special or expensive etc.

No-nonsense guide to weight loss

I love short, right-to-the-point books. Why should some authors spend the first 50 pages explaining why it's important for you? Why should they spend another 50 pages telling me everything I don't need to know about biochemistry of my body? Chris's book is different. He tells you how he did it. That's it. If you feel you need it -- go ahead and pick some advice from this book and apply to your situation. This book won't be the only weight loss guide you read, but I'm sure it will be at the top of the "usefulness per page" rating.

Disappointed

The blurb on Amazon for this book called it a “funny re-telling of what the author went through.” I guess they left the funny out of my copy. It was a general rehashing of every other weight loss book in existence with a lot of curse words thrown in. I’m glad I only spent $1.50 on it and feel that I didn’t get my money’s worth.

A fun quick read that is honest and to the point about weight loss. It starts with the idea that you need to capture some intrinsic motivation, and after that, some pragmatic advice how to channel the motivation into sustainable results.
