The book, Beyond the Bars: Exploring the Secrets of a Police Station, by Tammy Enz, is about what goes on in the police station. One thing they do is they test DNA. In the prison, they have metal doors, so that bad people cannot get out or see outside. The metal doors also have a slot, so that they can have their handcuffs put on and off while the prisoner is still locked in in jail. One interesting thing about the book is the information and pictures of the weapons room. They have lots of weapons, and they even have silencers on some of the weapons. They also have SWAT trucks, and some of those trucks look like ambulances, but they are really not.
If I could add one topic to the book it would be about the corrections team that works at the police station. The team is called the CERT team. The CERT team controls the bad guys if they are too out of control for the regular officers to handle. They are important because they are part of the police force. The officers on the CERT team are sheriffs who calm the bad guy down and place them in the resistance chair. The book hardly has lots of information other than basic stuff about the police station.
I would recommend this book to other people. I think it’s interesting, and you can learn a good deal about the police station from reading it. It is pretty easy to read, but you have to know a little about police if you want to understand everything they talk about in the book. Some of the words are only known by people who know a lot about police.

This series of books is really disappointing. Meant to show young readers the behind-the-scenes world of different businesses, this book focuses on police stations. It does have nice photographs, but the text is very bare and leaves a lot of empty information for young readers. A waste of money in my opinion.
