Interesting read but definitely dated in some aspects. Not just the wolf research like the whole alpha wolf nonsense, but also how Freund frequently compares indigenous peoples to animals, or how he is very hands-on in his approach of rearing captive wolves. I think that this is a valuable book for learning about Freund and his exploits and I'm sure that he came to some new insights regarding wolf behavior in his own way, but in a modern scientific context I don't think this would fly.
