The author introduces too many of theological liturgy which can be overwhelming. It’s not suitable for new believers of Christian faith and obviously not so for those outside or of no interest on the history of American black (woman). Besides, it can be confusing for believers who are not grounded on Christian faith to follow or understand the author’s writing which were found with non biblical characters and concepts. However, credit given for the extensive research and coming out with thus book.

As far as I know, the only womanist theologian who uses Girard's thought extensively. Stimulating look at Afro-American culture, including the spirituals (Kirk-Duggan is also a musicologist) & other contemporary culture issues of today.
