What a truly beautiful book this is. All new Christian's should be given a free copy of this book. Within it's covers is true forgiveness. Forgiveness that recognises that yes we are all human and as such sinners and no matter how much we love our Lord as humans we will still sin. But this book gives real reassurance that God's love is big enough to forgive us our weaknesses and failings. I would most certainly recommend this book.
To be transparent, I did not finish this book. After around 30-40%, I just could not continue. There are elements of his message that I do agree with and think need to be heard like that of life now instead of just in the sweet by and by. This book seems to be raging against things that at best should be better qualified/described and at worst feels a lot like "church hurt". There is also a lot of quoting from other books including his own previous works which makes one wonder why they are reading this book at all and instead reading the quoted books. There are only a couple things left that were the nail in the coffin for me. One can have there spiritual experiences but to use them for making there point isn't the way especially because this is when people tend to begin to make their opinions greater than the Word.. which does happen here. And then, there are multiple occasions where a verse is quoted and then a very different opinion is given than what the verse(and the verse's context) is saying. It would be easy to say that I'm inserting my opinion about those scriptures but if you read this for yourselves you'll find abstractions being made as truth.
Read with discernment and caution. If you believe once saved always saved, that Jesus didn't come to start a church/religion, and lean radically charismatic then you will like this book.
Like other reviewers have mentioned, the book starts off a little slow and somewhat confusing. I was unsure at first what the primary focus was, since the author refers to several other books in the first chapter. But, from there, I was happy to find this book was really quite wonderful.
The Love Shack is filled with positive information for readers. I loved the message that "Fulfillment is experienced only when you are living out the purpose for which you were born." This reaffirms the idea that God has created us all for a purpose and it's our responsibility to fulfill that purpose or we'll always be at odds with ourselves - and with God.
The author refers to Biblical scripture and a variety of other books and authors to make his points. I found it a fascinating and inspiring read. Highly recommended!
A book of holistic growth, an extension view of the best selling book the shack. Many common principles and values between the two, though this book also explained many other best selling books.
This book jumps around a lot in the beginning talking about various Christian books. After the jumping around it then gets into the meat of it. God's redeeming love and how we can benefit from accepting that redeeming love.
