Often regarded as the father of piano technique, Clementi was the first composer to achieve the fully matured piano sonata of the late Classic period. This edition includes all 12 of the splendid miniature sonatas — so-called sonatinas — that comprise Clementi's Opp. 36, 37, and 38. Musicians and music lovers will find in this authoritative edition a rich selection of music by an innovative and influential composer.
Muzio Filippo Vincenzo Francesco Saverio Clementi (23 January 1752 – 10 March 1832) was an Italian and British composer, virtuoso pianist, pedagogue, conductor, music publisher, editor, and piano manufacturer who was mostly active in England.
Clementi composed over 100 classical piano sonatas and was among the first to create keyboard works expressly for the capabilities of the piano. He has been called "Father of the Piano".
