This book could be considered Book 0, a prequel to the Clancy Evans PI series. Here Clancy is eleven years old living with her dad, the county’s Sheriff, her housewife mom, and nine-years old baby brother, Scottie. It ’s the story of her inquisitive nature and how she acquires her “detective” skills while attempting to solve the crimes of accused murderer, Mr. Joe, her friend and neighbor.
It’s summer in her small home town, and the two kids go fishing every day. But all is not right in this town. Two young boys are murdered in Mr. Joe’s barn. There are mysterious meetings in the town’s church by what appear to be town folks.

But Clancy just can’t seem to stop searching for the truth and finding the real killers of the two boys. And, she is eventually threatened. Is she getting too close?

Mystery at its best

One of the best books i have read this Summer. The 11year old Clancey and her Sheriff father try to solve the murder of two young boys. Many twists and turns. Can't wait to read more by M. Glenn Graves.
