Super in depth and really well written history of my beautiful home! Only 929 kids will understand. In all seriousness, a really in depth history going really far back. It isn't quite a heavy on the more modern era than I'd like, but still a great read. Highly recommended!
If you’re looking for a purely historical account of the population development of the Bronx, this is a great start. It lacked a strong sociological and cultural commentary of the history. But this books gives a great primer of the development of the land and structure of the bronx.
A great read. Recommended reading for anyone interested in NYC history.
Starting with pre-colonial indigenous inhabitants through to the turn of the 21st century, The Northern Borough manages a surprisingly comprehensive overview in only 325 pages. Clearly written, (despite numerous typos), well researched, & tremendously informative look at life in the area surrounding, supporting, & effected by the big, booming NYC next door we already know so much about.
