Genre: Biography Grade: K-4 This book had been written by Donald Driver, who is a famous football player. He had mentioned that he had went through many hardships in his life. Knowing that he went through a hardships in the book from losing his best friend, to then losing a football game and how he had overcome the hardships by being to have a dog. Knowing as people we go through many hardships and have to find a way to get past them.
The book was pretty adept at detailing the average suburban life of a child. However, I do not know what the lesson is here. Lose a friend, get a puppy? A haze of entitlement at the end of the book unfortunately clouds over what is otherwise wholesome.
It would be a great book if one of your students is moving away! It allows the kids to see that things like this happen and they can make it through it.
