This type of guide book is normally very badly translated but this one was much better than normal. Gives you a short description of the major tourist sites along with lots of photos.

This book lost something in translation from, presumably, the original Italian, but the images of the historical palaces in Avignon are truly worth putting up with the sometimes awkward English phrasing and descriptions.

The book focuses more on the architectural aspects of the papal palaces and the surrounding buildings in the walled city than on the art adorning the walls, but it is still an illuminating read.
