I can always count on Susan Hatler for a fun, clean, contemporary romance with a happy ending. This is a set of the first three books in the Wedding Whisperer series. The female main characters are friends and each book focuses on a different woman, but the others make cameo appearances. I had already read one of them and thoroughly enjoyed the other two. I laughed, shook my head at some of the situations they got themselves into, sighed at the swoony kissing scenes, and maybe acquired another book boyfriend--I'm looking at you Jason Morgan.

THE WEDDING CHARM, Book 1--Maid of Honor Sarah Carlton has to work with long-time nemesis, Best Man Ben Atkins to help save her best friend's wedding by retrieving the "wedding charm". It's a piece of jewelry every bride in their family has worn on their wedding day for generations, and it's her "something old".

This would make a fun romantic comedy movie. Watching Sarah and Ben pretend to be Jill and Ryan, all the while jumping through hoops set up by Jill's aunt to prove they're worthy enough to take possession of the "wedding charm". Oh, and they have less than 2 days to accomplish it. The things they go through to secure that piece of jewelry--the Atlanta Braves, a Dega painting (which almost gets them arrested), a southern tea complete with hoop skirts, a pedal boat, and a rescued dog.

THE WEDDING CATCH, Book 2--Avery Summers would rather help out at the homeless charity than find a guy to date. Then one day her boss' cousin, Jason Morgan, walks into the bakery and the walls around Avery's heart start to come down.

This was my favorite of the three stories. I LOVED Jason! I loved how he slowly broke down Avery's barriers. Barriers that I don't think she realized she'd erected to get through the rough times she'd experienced in life. Although Avery and Jason don't seem to have much in common, they get along very well. I loved that Jason was persistent with Avery, how he was kind and patient with her. I found him so swoony. This was such a sweet love story.

MY WEDDING DATE, Book 3--Who wants to go stag to a friend's wedding where you're sure to see your stupid ex-boyfriend? No one. That's why Erica planned to ask the new hot guy in her yoga class to go with her. Plus hot yoga guy Josh is just the type to show off to your ex, his new fiancee and his snooty mother. You know what they say about best laid plans? Well, Erica's was more like a flying-by-the-seat-of-her-pants plan so you can guess how that went.

This was a super fun story of two people who had great chemistry and were perfect for each other but needed to wake up. One of them more than the other. I loved Josh, I mean what's not to love? The man was gorgeous, had a great job, and liked to play bingo with his grandma, AND your grandma!! And he adopted a dog from a shelter! I'm a cat person but I still found that adorable. I won't give the ending away, but if it doesn't make your heart melt and your knees weak I don't know what would. I thought it was so swoony.

Omg I think I may have found a new favorite author. I absolutely loved this collection of love stories. They are all fairly short, so you breeze through them but man did they make me swoon. I loved all the characters, I loved that there was a hint of drama in each story but mostly just a really sweet, clean romance. Each story ties into the other stories but they all could be totally read as a stand-alone. Now I need to devour the rest of Susan Hatler’s series, which I’m thinking will just be as awesome as this series was

Fun, crazy boxset collection of stories! The Wedding Charm by Susan Hatler was fun. Some of the stories from grade school and high school? Well, they seem hilarious to me (now!) but I do remember some of those things happening to me, and around me, when I was younger. I won’t recap the story as the author tells it much better than I ever could but ultimately it is a story about Sarah Carlton and Ben Atkins – nemesis extraordinaire from Sarah’s childhood. Both are in the wedding party of their friends, Jill and Ryan, as Maid of Honor and Best Man. A major wedding “crisis” occurs and both Sarah and Ben have to fly across the country to find a wedding charm that has been in Jill’s family for generations…before the wedding that will happen in a few days. Anyone who has dealt with a bride with a case of bridal nerves knows Jill will be a wreck but these two go off on a quest. They start off as frenemies and jump thru some crazy hoops to find the charm. They even adopt a dog along the way! Hilarious. (Love the dog, too.) There really is a lot to smile about in this story, and you may even find yourself sniffling. Sometimes I just wanted to say “will you just speak up!” to Jill but the story moved along very well. I’m so very glad I found this group of books and thoroughly enjoyed this quick, fun read.

The Wedding Catch was a quick, clean read for me. I enjoyed it, loved the characters, but have one silly question to other readers: When will heroes and heroines figure out that withholding information will always get them in trouble? Probably no time soon as there wouldn’t be stories out there for us to read. Avery has taken over managing Bernie’s Bakery for her friend Melinda (we met her in previous stories; not necessary to read but oh so fun!) and is really quite…stuck in her assessments of men and relationships overall. She is in NO hurry to get serious about any guy so in walks someone Melinda knows…Jason. Throws a huge monkey wrench into Avery’s plans. Jason is another nice guy but he has some “issues” that he has to work through, too. Avery and Jason make a great team – Avery does so much for other people, especially those in need – and she goes that extra mile for her friends. What she needs is someone to do that for her, and Jason does that, imho. These two are great together and once they work thru the obstacles in front of them? They are adorable!

Erica Conner is caught up in a dilemma in her own life: her mother and her mother’s country club friends believe she should behave in that Stepford-daughter way, and her own friends believe she should just be her Erica-spontaneous self! The book starts with her ogling Josh Taylor, a new student in her yoga class. Before she works up the nerve to approach him, a friend of her mother’s and the mother of Erica’s “perfect” ex, literally gets in her face – and let the meet-cute commence! I laughed so hard at the pet names Erica and Josh come up with, Sweetie Bee, Pumpkin Poodle. OMG, it is hilarious. For me, though, the meat of the book rested around both Erica and Josh coming to terms with their pasts and individual self-worth’s before they open themselves up to each other and get their HEA. Some of the other characters are easy to dislike (can you hear me, Mindy???) and her friends are kah-razee (in a good way)! But these two were made for one another.

The Wedding Whisperer, Book 1-3 - Sweet, clean, Rom-Com escape

The Wedding Whisperer Boxed Set contains the first 3 books in this series -
1. The Wedding Charm
2. The Wedding Catch
3. My Wedding Date

I already own the first two books so when I was able to snag this box set and add the third book to my collection of books from Susan Hatler I was happy. These are clean, fun, sweet and entertaining stories. There is nothing heavy or dark and instead more like cotton candy, fun, flirty, laugh out loud, rom-com. Just the thing to lighten your mood if you are in need of a quick escape to forget about everything happening around you.

Novel: The Wedding Charm
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Romance: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Writing: ✏️✏️✏️✏️✏️

This is not a normal Susan Hatler novel. By that I mean, it is even more amazing than the rest. It’s such a different romance story. The characters are well built and easy to imagine. They both have their flaws and their problems making them seem more realistic. They have such silly antics at times. I loved all the different tasks that they have to do. This could easily be a great movie.

The story follows Sarah. She’s really happy for her friend’s wedding besides the fact that her childhood nemesis, Ben, will be there. Ben destroyed her senior year science project that could have helped her gotten a scholarship to college. Instead, she helped pay her uncle’s treatment cost and wasn’t able to go to law school with so many loans. Ben’s always tried to one-up her and compete with her for everything. Sarah’s always had a crush on him but knowing that he will never see her that way, she just lets it be that. Now at her friend’s wedding, it turns out that the wedding charm isn’t there. Sarah and Ben both volunteer to retrieve it. Once they reach, they realize this is no easy task as they have to do three different errands to get this charm.

Novel: Wedding Catch
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Romance: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Writing: ✏️✏️✏️✏️✏️

The story follows Avery. Avery doesn’t believe in love. She’s been told that she’s guarded her heart and is absolutely insane. Avery’s mother has gone through multiple divorces proving that love doesn’t last in her world. The worst divorce was when she was only nine years old. They even lived out of their car for some time because they didn’t have a home. Her friend’s, Melina’s, the wedding is coming up. Jason, Melinda’s cousin, is in town for it. When Avery and Jason first meet, she flat down refuses his proposal to go on a date. She has too much going on in her life. She’s living at her office since she’s been pretty much evicted and the charity she volunteers her time to might have to close. Jason does get her to change her mind though and she sees that life can sometimes be about what she wants.

The characters were all very well built. They were easy to imagine and grew throughout the story. While they may have flaws, they learn that no person is perfect and makes mistake. I enjoyed reading this story. It was captivating and intriguing. I love how Susan ties all the stories together and uses the same setting for each novel. I’m starting to recognize characters and learning how they find true love.

This story follows Erica. She’s a yoga instructor. Erica’s developed a crush on one of the newcomers, Josh. Erica’s ex’s mother comes to her gym and tells her about her ex’s new fiancee. Own of Erica’s friend’s marriages is coming up and her ex and his fiancee are going to be there. Erica says that she has a date for the wedding and Josh’s name slips out of her mouth. Josh overhears and comes over, continuing the charade. Erica and Josh make a deal, a wedding date and winning back Josh’s ex.

The story was one of Susan’s best. It was exciting! The transitions were made amazingly. The story was intriguing and captivating. The characters were a lot of fun and were easy to imagine. I loved the emotion, feeling and love. I felt like I was actually in the story.

The boxset is made up of three semi-connected stories, that each can definitely be read as standalone books.

My overall rating is a four, while the series started out strong, there were many places in which more could have been done to develop the characters and connect the stories to each other. Below are my individual reviews.

The Wedding Charm- 5 stars
Sarah and Ben, High school nemesis who have secretly harboured crushes for each other, finally get to express their true feelings while helping out their friends retrieve a special something old for her wedding. I absolutely loved that these two were complementary opposites, the shenanigans was pure entertainment and above all, once they realized that they were in love, they wasted no time in stupid misconceptions and miscommunications.

The Wedding Catch-4.5 stars
Avery and Jason, had a love at first sight, a world a part love story. The mystery and adventures in this book were nice as well, but I really don't understand why anything had to be kept secret, it seemed to create some unnecessary drama.

My Wedding Date- 4 stars
Erica and Josh, this one had me scratching my head at times, I didn't feel the romances between the two leads, I am personally no a fan for love triangles/squares. Also, the backdrop was Kaitlin's wedding! And I just thought that should have been a bigger deal (Hers was my favourite story, so I might be slightly biased).

I thank Netgalley and the Publishers for providing a copy of this book, all opinions are my own.

This bundle contains three fantastic books in THE WEDDING WHISPERER series. Titles included are: THE WEDDING CHARM, Book 1; THE WEDDING CATCH, Book 2; and MY WEDDING DATE, Book 3. I have read all three of these books, and they are so good that I had a hard time picking one to tell you about. So below is a review of one of these heart-melting stories to give you an idea of what you’ll find in this set.

*** Reviewing “MY WEDDING DATE, BOOK 3” ***
This book was the perfect fun read, with intricate plotting and amazing characters! You will adore the interaction and dialog that is riotously funny at times!

Erica Conner, a yoga instructor, finds out that she needs a plus-one for a wedding where her ex will be showing off his new fiancée. So Erica tells her ex’s bragging mother that she will be attending with the very attractive new guy in her class whom she has been admiring. When Josh Taylor overhears her little lie, he goes along with it in return for her agreement to continue to date him so he could win back his ex-girlfriend, Mindy. Because Erica’s workaholic ex always treated her as second place to his work, she wasn’t overly thrilled that Josh is a successful executive and probably acts the same way. But to her surprise, he is actually very caring and attentive to her. Their dates are fun and relaxing where she can be herself and truly enjoy whatever they had chosen to do.

So when the moment comes when Josh kisses her, she isn’t sure whether this is for “show” or if he really meant it. Should she tell him how she feels now that it has turned real for her? Or will he reject her and continue to pursue his girlfriend?

THE WEDDING CHARM
Sarah and Ben have to put aside their rivalry and pretend to be engaged in order to retrieve a family heirloom for their friend’s wedding. Light fun easy to read story, nice bit of gentle escapism.
THE WEDDING CATCH
Avery and Jason meet and work together to save the homeless outreach programme building which is threatened by developers. However, is Jason too good to be true? Nicely written characters in a fun book with a bit of drama and excitement as they work together to try to save the programme from closure.
MY WEDDING DATE
Erica enters into a fake date arrangement with Josh. Love a fake romance book and this didn’t disappoint. Plenty of enjoyable scenes with likeable characters.
Overall, this is an ideal introduction to Susan Hatler’s writing. It’s just right if you’re looking for sweet entertaining romance with interesting characters.

Perfection… Isn’t

One thing bothers me about every Susan Hatler book I read. She seems overly hung up on how people look. All the women are drop-dead gorgeous and teeny tiny, and the men are all worthy of a magazine ad or cover as well. Sigh! I prefer my books to be about real people, like those I could actually meet, and I haven't seen many who look like that where I live! It's so shallow. Books are a great place—because they are not visual—where something beyond looks can easily be explored… like the content of people’s character. I like basically clean contemporary romance, which is why I continue to check out her books. But they are so disappointing. The author also starts her books with information dumps, which I'm never a fan of. Her vocabulary seems limited, as her characters seem to have all sorts of “flutterings,” rivaling Mrs. Bennet in Pride and Prejudice! Her stories might actually be decent contemporary romantic fluff if she didn't make her character so physically perfect and harp on so much.

I loved this wonderfully romantic collection
The Wedding Charm - So romantic...Sarah and her high school nemesis, Ben are thrown together as brides maid and best man at their friends’ wedding. They are finally able to clear the air and resolve past issues while working together on a bit of a scavenger hunt.
The Wedding Catch - Avery has commitment issues after a series of bad relationships. She’s asked to be a bridesmaid and falls for the brides cousin Jason. He’s the opposite of what she wants and just what she needs...
My Wedding Date - a sweet tearjerker...Erica and Josh fake date in order to achieve their own goals but their half truths almost cause them to lose their chance at happiness...

The one thing that I’ve found I can ALWAYS count on when I read one of Susan Hatler’s books is that I’ll be happier when I finish it than when I started it. The couples are always great people, there’s never any big evil lurking around the corner, and the worst thing you usually find is some real cattiness from some rich mommas.

This boxed set is filled with three happily ever afters. Although, I have to say, if my grandmother made me chase around in the Atlanta heat and humidity looking for a wedding charm in the manner that happened in the first book, we’d have to have a very serious talk when we met up in heaven!

The Wedding Whisperer Boxed Set contains three fun, crazy and sometimes downright hilarious tales of wedding drama and the ups and downs of planning that perfect day. Susan Hatler has a knack for reminiscing with readers about the familiar aspects of the past that shaped the person you are now (and some you’d rather forget) and the people who played a part in your good and occasionally, not so fond memories. If you don’t laugh out loud while reading these stories, you’re a lost cause! So, if you want to lighten your load, cry tears from gut-wrenching laughter, and take a trip down memory lane, then this set is definitely for you.

This is the first three books in the series. The Wedding Charm with Sarah and Ben and the constant competition between the two. The Wedding Catch with Avery and Jason. The homeless shelter looking for tunnels and going on dates, he works for the developer that wants to buy the homeless shelter. My Wedding date with Erica and Josh. Erica needs a date for a wedding to show her ex she is okay. Josh agrees only to her help him with winning back his girlfriend. These are all warm and happy reads. They are all wonderful and funny. Great collection of stories well worth reading.

I loved this collection of three sweet and funny romance novels. The wedding whisperer is a character in the stories that seems to know just what to say to help the characters find their HEA through whatever situation they have found themselves in. I loved all three books but I think my favorite was the first, “The Wedding Charm.” This finds enemies Ben and Sarah headed to Atlanta to pick up a family heirloom for the bride. They pretend to be the engaged couple and must complete 3 tasks to prove they deserve the heirloom. This is both romantic and hilarious.

The box set includes: The wedding charm, The wedding date, The wedding catch. My favorite was The wedding date: written in the first person point of view, which is always a deal breaker for me, Erica is a yoga instructor -her job is her zen time, until one day, her zen collapses when all of the sudden a hot guy, Josh, catches her attention and she realizes that he has been coming to her class for a past month. She enjoyed correcting his poses...among other things. That was a wonderful read.
