Advent Treasure: 25 Short Reflections of Hope

by Liz Carter

Advent Treasure is a series of 25 short devotionals over the month of December, leading us on a journey through the depths of darkness, waiting and watching for flickers of light on the path ahead, through to the bursting joy of the mystery and hope of the incarnation. So many of us are overwhelmed with life and struggling with many things - illness, grief, mental health issues - and long to take time over Advent to reflect, but find that we only have capacity for something bite-sized. This book is designed for those who are finding life tough and who need to be uplifted by hope, with one page per day for easy access. Each day you will find a short piece of poetry, a Bible passage, a short reflection and a prayer.

Reviews

[Alex Banwell]

Although the devotionals in this book are short, they are filled with gentle hope for those who might be struggling either emotionally or physically during the Christmas season. I also loved the way the author included some of her own poetry and a prayer.

I really enjoyed this devotional written during this difficult year. The daily readings were short but thought provoking and I hope I will use it again next year.

Read any of Liz Carter’s books and you’ll be reminded of the writing of the Psalms. Heart wrenching realism and a flow of poetical expression that will touch your soul. A great Advent Devotional.

Fantastic accompaniment to read through during advent.
