Since learning to read is a very important accomplishment in early childhood, Hello Reader! books are designed especially to help children become skilled readers. In fact, this Hello Reader! collection has been designed for:
parents to read to children
children to read to parents, and
children to read to themselves!

There are 5 short stories within this book about a classroom pet guinea pig who goes on many adventures in the school. Fluffy experiences a new home, the 100th day of school, a field trip to a dinosaur museum, the movies, a talent, show and summer vacation. This book is for level three readers (which would be at ages 6 or 7) and could be used for students transitioning from picture books to chapter books. The text is simple and in small chunks with a large font, but the volume of the book is large and it has many pages like a normal chapter book would. Guinea pigs do not actually act and talk the way that Fluffy does though. I enjoyed reading this early-reader chapter book and I would recommend it to early readers to help them connect illustrations to text and advance their reading skills. I wouldn't use this book as a read-aloud, but I would give it to students transitioning from picture to chapter books.
My four year old and I love these stories. The book is compromised five sections with three stories each. It's a perfect length to read three stories in one sitting. Great intro to chapter books.
