or the three million people who move each year, Dress Your House for Success will almost guarantee a sale for thousands of dollars over the price of a comparable house. Great advice for getting your house ready to sell. I read her description of what it's like for a buyer to know that they've found the right home, and I had immediate flashbacks of when I found my current house. I walked in and knew it was the right place! The tips here range from how to declutter to how to look at your house through "buyers' eyes" to how to "dynamicize" it to create that feeling of comfort and enable a buyer to imagine living in the house. The book includes a lot of details and examples as well as helpful checklists. Above all, it is written in an upbeat, empowering way. Selling a house is a lot of work - and Martha Webb is a great advisor and cheerleader to have on your side.
This 1997 book was WAY ahead of its time. all of her advice is now commonplace commonsense, with all of the staging/selling/fixing up to sell your house shows there on the shelter channels. But there is not a single idea current today that she didn't already think of. She was a hollywood producer who kind of fell into staging homes to sell, and she must have been great at it! still is for all i know. FYI the 5 steps are: uncluttering cleaning repairing neutralizing dynamizing
This is a great help for sellers needing some advice to get their house in perfect shape for the market! Some of it didn't apply to us because we'll be selling a vacant house, but the cleaning section especially brought up things I wouldn't have thought of on my own!
