I felt the need to clarify that I designated this as four stars, not due to a disagreement with the text or its conclusions, but that the structure of the argument is at times awkward to me, a reader over a century later.
That being said, this is a fascinating look at the arguments of the time - both the author’s thesis and the viewpoints of those he addresses.
