A breakthrough in an investigation leads Alex McEwan to find the address of an old flame carved into the flesh of a dead murderer. He realises the woman he loves is in danger.
While researching a book on Scottish Masonic buildings, Kate Harlow, McEwan's lost love, has become involved with the occult underground. She has transformed herself into a Nephilim, a human mind fused with an angelic soul.
Robert Saint Claire, Kate's occult mentor, is planning to free the fallen angels, to breed a new race of Divine Kings...and to him Kate is just a tool.
Other shadowy figures of Scotland’s occult underground have their own plans. The Mistress broods in her castle moving people like pawns. Kether has guided Glasgow unseen for centuries; he also wants to free the fallen angels...to kill them.
The lost Name of God.
A secret vault built by the patriarch Enoch.
Together Alex and Kate must prevent the fallen angels returning from the Abyss, from fathering another generation of monstrous Nephilim, and from heralding the Apocalypse itself.
Richard Mosses has been telling stories most of his life. This is one of them.
Richard was born on a small island off the coast of Europe and went to live on a bigger island, and has spent time living on the island of Ireland. He grew up under Mutually Assured Destruction, and was haunted by the Spirit of Dark and Lonely Water. From scripting zombie films for the kids in the village he grew up in, to Storytelling at National and International levels in The Camarilla LARP society, he's tried his hand at most forms of telling tales.
Since the Noughties, Richard's stories have appeared in literary magazines and genre anthologies, exploring history and belief from Gnostic heresies to punk magic. His novels cover similar territory in the strange nexus of angels, cryptography, magic, and espionage.
Don't be scared off by the religious undertones. Most books about vanished civilizations and ancient relics can't help but be inclined that way because they dig up ancient peoples and the gods they worship.
This was a great book with a lot of action and whodunit. I've always been interested in fallen angels and Nephilim, and this is a different way to look at them.
Except for the pain, I would love to hear, "The Name of God," the way the Alex and Kate was able to hear it! As I was reading the description, I got tears in my eyes.
From what I can tell, this book has been out a while, so I truly hope the author has a second book written. I would love to share more adventures with Alex and Kate, maybe even find the Mistress... if she is still alive!
