I read this because a friend lent me it. Hmmm, it’s very much of its time. There was a fresh renewal of the Spirit in the 1970s, & although it’s written as fiction, the story is a vehicle for the message Colin Urquhart wishes to convey. The characters are unsophisticated & undeveloped. I feel it would have been better if he had written a book on the subject without trying to fictionalise it.
Christian fiction. Needs to be read word by word. It's not for fast skimming as the book as a whole while it is fiction is still an edifying read.
I grew up in the Jesus Fellowship. In many ways the development of the characters reflected the maturing and changing of the adults around me in my childhood.
This one mostly felt pretty rushed, and probably could have benefited from a hundred or so more pages, but all in all, I think it made its point. Certainly by the last third of the book, the point overcame the delivery and I ended up enjoying it. I will keep this one in my collection.
