Read 'Being a Good Citizen' to learn what it means to be a good citizen, as well as helpful tips for being a good citizen at home, at school and with friends. Simple text and playful illustrations show the reader that everyone can be a good citizen every day. This Acorn Read-Aloud is an excellent tool for introducing readers to citizenship.
This book was so easy to share with grade three and create a discussion about citizenship at the same time. I like how it emphasized that you can be a good citizen in all kinds of different communities: your family, in a friendship, in a classroom or school, or in a city.
There are good ideas at the back for making the most of a book within a class discussion. Nice glossary too, to make sure ESL learners understood all the main words in the text. There are illustrations that show a diversity of people.
I liked this book and it's easy to read quality. It gives "easy" terms for "big" words and its a perfect story to read when learning about citizenship. I think you could also read this book and talk about being a good student or good person at home. Talking about citizenship is a good stepping stone to being a good person, while also teaching social studies. I would recommend this book and will have it in my classroom.

A great book that makes children think and interact with the questions being asked. I would recommend this book to classes who are learning about citizenship and being a good citizen.
One think I love about this book is the diversity in the illustrations. It shows different race, religion, and ability. I also love the teaching ideas in the back that help you use this book in your class. Great message and I would use this book in the future.
