Attempting to develop the most comprehensive reference possible, the editorial board did not restrict authors to specific page limits; instead, the board sought the most information provided in the most succinct fashion possible. Consequently, entries are longer than those in previous editions.
The editorial board also commissioned longer overview entries in major areas. Some overviews stand alone as the single exhaustive entry on the subject; others integrate a topic for which there are several other entries.
All of the entries are new, and several areas of interest are covered in much greater depth than in previous editions. Among the topics with greatly enhanced content are
* Corrections and Justice * Cultural Competence * Direct Practice * HIV/AIDS * International Social Work * Management * Racial and Ethnic Groups * Research * Sexual Orientation
Just as the editorial board increased the diversity of the content, members also sought to increase the diversity of authors.
I love my Encyclopedias. I constantly reference to them and use them for all of my papers. I spent quite a bit of money on them, even used, but it is a great resource.
