A good "critical" read although the USA Today format made me feel a little disjointed. The examples are really very good, real life practicality and situational. I can see many of them being useful in my teaching.

I spent all morning till afternoon to read this book. It's actually a very well written book guiding us to step by step training us to think critically.

I enjoyed specially that the author used several movies as example. Mostly are the movies with court scenes. Yes, court is a place where you need absolute critical thinking to win a case. In "Philadelphia", the scene how Washington won the case for Hanks. In Apollo 13, how Hanks step by step found out what went wrong with their spaceship. I love to watch movies with court scenes, of listening to the debate. We can actually get to understand how smart people think.

Knowledge prevents us from ignorance. Critical thinking could help us avoid bias and prejudgment. Being "Scientific literacy" is very important. without basic scientific literacy, we end up being ridiculous and blindly believe in something.

It doesn't get much more fundamental than learning how to make rational decisions. I read this book in its entirety and wrote out 25 pages of notes in Microsoft Word! The biggest downside is that the author makes a lot of subtle arguments for liberal politics without giving us the chance to analyze them or even notice he's making them - for example, huge, flattering pictures of Michele Obama, but unflattering depictions of conservative personalities and plenty of opportunity to critique their opinions. But the tools he provides are UTTERLY indispensable. One of the best books I've read this year without a doubt.

Love this book, it so user-friendly and gives excellent tools to broaden your critical thinking skills. Its good for any age. The author uses all kinds of references from history, media, pop culture. Worth the purchase no mater what your interests. This is especially helpful for the person who has trouble make decisions or expressing themselves in public.
