It was the title of this book that first caught my attention. Mister Goshevens just sounded so fanciful, like a character who would be having tea with the Mad Hatter. Then I read that blurb and I was absolutely sold. A mysterious billionaire who sends his cryptic rhymes to a group of attractive young men, offering them a chance to join his game, the grand prize being the heart of Mister Goshevens himself. I loved this idea, it was so unique, yet at the same time it was so Who Wants to Marry a Billionaire!

Remi is our main character, a good looking young man from London who has arrived in New York along with two old college friends, ready to experience all the city has to offer. However, waking up after his first night in his luxurious hotel, he finds a note slipped under his door inviting him to play Mister Goshevens’ game for the chance to find love and live a life of luxury. The three friends are thankfully concerned! I think I would have ranted had there not been some concern that this unknown note writer could be a psychopath. But the hotel staff soon assures them that Mister Goshevens is indeed a legitimate billionaire, although no one ever seems to see him.

The entire story is told from Remi’s point of view, our title character not revealing himself until the end of the story. But Remi is never alone, as he and his friends are chauffeured all over New York in Mister Goshevens’ well stocked limo. I enjoyed the amount of events and places that the men explored, the author making the pages fly past quickly by making their fast paced exploring part of the plot. I was actually okay with not having our second main character present; in fact as the days of their holiday counted down, I was sad that the surprises were going to end. So for the most part, I really enjoyed this book.

Unfortunately, the reveal of Mister Goshevens was a bit of a let down. I simply didn’t feel any connection or attraction between him and Remi. It felt a lot like a business meeting or a negotiation even though there was talk of emotion. The “extra twist” which is also revealed at the end was confusing. It seemed completely unnecessary and just created questions, for me at least, that weren’t addressed.

However, just because I didn’t feel the chemistry doesn’t mean that no one else will. Like I said, this premise was interesting and I was entertained by the three friends’ shenanigans. If you like a book with a mysterious billionaire, maybe give this one a shot.

Who knew that such a thing would happen to three London guys when they went on holiday to New York? Mister Goshevens is full of action, adventure, intrigue and mystery from beginning to end. The experiences the guys have in New York (many courtesy of Mister Goshevens) made me want to be with them so I could join in on all the fun and enjoy such lavish extravagance. By all accounts, the guys have a blast, and one of the main characters is seduced by Mister Goshevens through his charming but moralistically challenging poems. When the chosen person gets to meet Mister Goshevens, they have a surprise in store—and it doesn’t relate to the size of his bank balance. The chosen man is expected to make the ultimate sacrifice for love (there is a clue in the blurb), and well…you’ll have to read the book to find out if they make that sacrifice. For me, there are a lot of underlying messages about racial integration being possible, the ability to overcome loss when you have given up hope, and the pain and suffering we can endure when we are in a relationship or trying to deal with the problems that life throws at us. I would recommend reading this book if you like a more profound and meaningful read.

I'm giving this a neutral 3 star rating.

This was really hard one for me to review.
The mystery of finding who Mr Goshevens is though 7 letters slipped into their hotel rooms. Told from Remi's view with the three of them seeking the mans identity. Remi, Jordan and Aaron have no idea whats happening but a game of mystic enfolds. I liked this but you only get Remi's side along with the narrative.  The identity of Mr Goshevens is a surprise i didnt know how i felt about it. There's an added twist at the end that I didnt like that kinda spoilt it.
Remi with his two friends, Jordan and Aaron are set for a vacation in New York for 10 days.  After a night at the Limelight Club the three of them receive a letter inviting them to play a game with Mr Goshevens.

I thought I’d really miss Berkeley from the Men In Love and at War series, but his series has come to an end and it’s time to move on. And move on we have! As always with Mr Collins’ books, Mister Goshevens is full of unexpected twists and turns! The rhymes and main characters that the three London lads meet in New York keep you guessing who Mister Goshevens is, but I wasn’t disappointed when I found out who he was. It’s a fast-paced book crammed with action, adventure, humour, intrigue and romance. There’s a nice surprise at the end which is very touching and moving. You don’t have to read Mr Collins’ other books to enjoy this one, but you are seriously missing out if you don’t read them!

No doubt. This is my favorite book so far by LJ Collins. I fell in love with Mister Goshevens immediately, both the book and the characters, and I always suspected who Mister Goshevens really was! I knew that LJ Collins is a terrific writer since I have read all of his books, but to find out he's a poet too? Awesome. I was thrilled. The rhymes that made me fall in love with the character are simply exquisite. I was left craving more. The plot is intriguing, some characters are utterly funny and wild crazy, and there are others who I wish I could keep for myself! Impeccable.

Up until the last couple of chapters, this was a five star for me. The big reveal of who Mr. Goshevens is took me by surprise and left me a bit disappointed that more of the story wasn't developed as a continuation. So, in a matter of a few minutes, Remi just accepts the man just as he is, just like that? I'd be the first one breaking doors, windows, ceiling, etc. But, I didn't pen the story so *shrugs*. The rest of the story was quite enjoyable and all in all, I still recommend it. BTW, I Love the type of stories with persons like Mr. Goshevens (can't expand without giving it up).

Overall enjoyed the book. What made it 4 stars instead of 5 was the fact that the vampire secret was left to the end and not really explored.
