Lionel Davidson was a three-times winner of the Gold Dagger Award (for The Night of Wenceslas, A Long Way to Shilo and The Chelsea Murders). His thrillers and adventure novels have won him enormous international acclaim. He also wrote children's books under the name of David Line.
I came across this book on eBay that contains the first 2 novels by Lionel Davidson.
The Night of Wenceslas is a treat. A young ne'erdowell gets caught up in an international Spy ring. The writing is dryly funny & ironic and the story zips along.
The Rose of Tibet is different, posing as an interpretation of a true story (is it really based on truth - I'm not sure??) it is a fabulous adventure in much the same vein as Kolymsky Heights - a chap goes on a difficult quest & wins out despite severe problems all along the way. I'd recommend both or either for fans of any genre, particularly if you've read & enjoyed Kolymsky Heights
