It's difficult not to be swept up in this passionate story of 2 souls drawn together as they struggle with their own personal demons. They both need saving and fate sometimes has a funny way of bringing people together, especially when they least expect it.

Cally has turned her back on her comfortable life and is looking to escape. So she throws caution to the wind and creates a new life for herself, and new persona, as she offers to house-sit for a friend in London for 6 months. She thinks it gives her the right amount of time to work out what to do next.

Bay is an artist. Quite successful too with a cult following, but he's too wrapped up in his own head to care. And with his creative side comes a destructive side to his personality, so drugs are his escape. And when a new woman appears in his building, he's thrown a little and can't understand what it is about her that intrigues him so much. The spark between them is pretty obvious and she even gets him to venture outside to do tourist stuff! He's not normally that kind of bloke!!

It's clear as you read this that there is an explosive connection between these two characters! Despite their pasts that they both seem to be running from, they feel an ease to start opening up to each other - it even awakens Callys' mind sexually... prepare yourself as this book does get very steamy! The more they find out about each, the deeper the bond between them strengthens and neither of them seem ready for all that entails.

This was a passionate, riveting read and I loved it! The two main characters were fascinating creatures and as they discovered different sides to themselves, it really made you connect with them as people. Really excited to read more from this author in the future as she really seems to create a wonderful spark between her characters!

* Book Review *

I really do not have enough words to describe how much I adored this book!
It’s a contemporary romance with a difference. Not your usual sweet girl goes after bad boy and she turns him good etc..
There is a bad boy yes, ‘Bay’ but he’s more misunderstood than bad I’d say.
He’s rude and arrogant and has all the swagger, but deep down he has a kind soul and is just lonely
.
Then there is ‘Cally’ a girl who’s been living a quiet, stable life and has recently been diagnosed with cancer. The diagnosis turns her life upside down and she feels like she hasn’t lived or enjoyed all there is to offer in life so she decides to run away... from her boyfriend & family and home town.
Cally takes a 6 month flat-sitting job in London. And at the top of a huge commercial building lives Bay,in his penthouse...and Cally’s flat is directly opposite his. They are the only two people living there and so of course they get drawn together...
I don’t want to give too much of the story away but I will say the writing totally drew me in and I devoured this book in two short sittings! You know when the perfect book comes along at the perfect time and you just fall in love with it? This is definitely one of those books for me!
Lowrie’s writing is beautiful, exciting and flows so well. The electric atmosphere she creates between our two main characters is TO DIE FOR!
I completely fell in love with Cally & Bay and I didn’t want this story to end.
With lots of twists and turns, beautiful and at sometimes haunting writing and an epic love story I highly recommend reading this one. I can’t wait to read more from this author! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Grace Lowrie does not shy away from dilemmas. She puts her characters in difficult situations and lets them make their own choices. The challenges she poses to them are unique. There are no templates in Lowrie’s stories, no candyfloss.
In Before We Fall, upon being diagnosed with cancer, Cally makes a bold choice to run away from everything she knows and holds dear in order to live what is left of her life to the fullest. She could choose to undergo treatment but prefers to indulge in hedonistic carpe diem. She goes to London where she becomes a pole dancer and meets the moody guy next door, the reclusive artist, Bay. Two beings on the edge of life, they are instantly attracted to each other. Their first encounter, prickly at first, slowly morphs into a turbulent, sexually charged relationship.
I was drawn into this story from the first page. It is both emotionally intense and reflective at the same time. It runs deep into the human psyche and into the mortal condition that is life. The prose is smooth and does not intrude on the story; the characters are complex. An absorbing read!
