I couldn’t help thinking of the seagulls from finding nemo when I read the first page ‘mine’ ‘mine’ ‘mine’. So that has me excited to see what would be revealed from this book straight away. Mimi reminded me of a magpie not sure if these are the same type of birds or not. I really liked the illustrations throughout this and it reminded me a lot of the animal farm characters from my early childhood. You meet so many wonderful animal characters from the very beginning but obviously learn a lot about mimi. Personally I really liked charity.

It really educated children on animals and what happens with forest fires. How the animals worked together was really adorable and cute and I loved how Charity didn’t forget about mimi. It was lush how every animal had their own special part and job role. I can imagine the anticipation in children’s faces wondering if mimi was going to be okay. It was lovely how mimi appreciated being rescued and helped with the fire. The key message in this for me is not to be greedy and always share with others who may be less fortunate.

I know the author has a set of these books so if you loved the concept of this one and the cover and the review be sure to check out the other books in the series.

When the story begins, Mimi the Mynah only says “me” and “mine.” She’s selfish, never offering to help others and only concerned with herself. When a fire breaks out the other animals band together to fight it, but Mimi is nowhere in sight. Nobody is terribly concerned about her, except Charity. She goes to the mynah’s mine to check on her, and it’s a good thing she did, because Mimi was in trouble.

When some of the other animals help rescue Mimi, she appreciates it. But where will all the animals stay now that their homes were destroyed? Surprisingly, Mimi has a solution.

Mimi the Mynah: It’s All Mine reveals the importance of sharing and having compassion for others. The alliterative animal names and the lively illustrations are fun.

This story is about the animals who live around the Duck Pond. They each had a purpose, but most of the animals thought that Mimi The Mynah only lived to be selfish. Mimi got her name because she only knew two words: Me and Mine. She lived in a tree and there was a Mine that she claimed for her own. She always considered her needs as the only ones that mattered. The other animals didn’t care for her, except the church mouse named Charity.

When a dry spell came to the Duck Pond a grass fire broke out and all the animals worked hard to put out the fire. But, Mimi was no where to be found. What would happen to Mimi and the other animals? This charming little book shows how Charity (love) can be what’s needed in every circumstance.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

Mimi, the mynah, only knew two words—“me” and “mine.” This often made her selfish because she would want and want without give. As you can imagine, Mimi was not the most popular animal on Duck Pond. The only one who seemed to care about Mimi was a quiet, little church mouse, who thought there was more to Mimi than meets the eye.

“Every animal had some special purpose.”

When a fire breaks out, all the animals come together to help put it out…even Mimi, who was rescued by her little mouse friend. She really comes through when it seems the animals have nowhere else to live. Would this put an end to Mimi’s selfish nature?

The images were simple and rudimentary with bright colors. There was a certain Crayola and watercolor combination to the illustrative scenes that were quite captivating.

A sweet and touching story! I look forward to reading the other books in this series.

I chose to read this book after receiving a free e-copy from iRead Book Tours. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

Everyone at the Duck Pond pitches in when something needs to be done. Everyone except Mimi the Mynah. The only two words she knows are “me” and “mine.” When disaster strikes, though, after she is saved by some of the other animals, she realizes the importance of helping.

This is an adorable book with great illustrations, which are bright and colorful. Even better, it teaches children about helping and sharing with others rather than being selfish like Mimi.
