Cindys earliest experience with the paranormal occurred around the age of five. She and her sister witnessed her recently deceased great-grandmother at the edge of their bed late one night. From that moment she was intrigued by spirits and the afterlife. She sought books and papers on the matter from the moment she learned to read. As an adult she dabbled in amateur paranormal investigating around her longtime home town of Social Circle with her brother and best friend. She enjoyed it as a weekend hobby and was successful in being drawn to places that produced good evidence. She also sang lead in a band for several years during this time. Most of all, she enjoyed being a mother to three girls and a wife to husband Jim. Her happiness was cut short in 2009 when her husband took his own life unexpectedly. She was left to raise her children and deal with an insurmountable grief that weighed heavily on her. Months later she began experiencing things in her home she knew was paranormal in nature from her previous experiences. Little did she know she was dealing with something far more sinister than she could have ever fathomed. In the months and years to follow, her nightmare became so terrifying that she sought out the help of a professional paranormal team and a priest. None of them could have foreseen the ongoing battle that would ensue for all of them. It was a real and horrible war against evil itself.
I had hoped that at the very least this book would be a compelling story even if it wasn’t based on truth. Unfortunately the writing is terrible so I wasn’t even able to enjoy it as a work of fiction. There are significant spelling, grammar and punctuation errors in almost every sentence which get worse as the book progresses. This book has either never seen an editor or that editor was completely and utterly incompetent. That alone makes this a tiring read, but when you add in the fact that the author is constantly repeating and contradicting herself it becomes exhausting.
I believe in the paranormal. That being said, I also believe that there are rational explanations for most situations. There are numerous reasons I doubt the veracity of this “possession,” the main one being that she claims to have been cured during the course of one single exorcism. The author also takes great care to describe her continuous torment at the hands of a demon and to constantly inform you that she had “never been more terrified” at each point in the story - all while continuing her side hobby of ghost hunting and seeking out paranormal experiences. Really..? I strongly recommend passing on this book unfortunately.
This poor woman went through hell, she us strong a fighter and this poor as horrible scary as it it proves good always wins. God is good There were a few typos but nothing to bad I think she did a great job , God bless u and your family Cindy
I feel terrible when someone publishes their book, and you KNOW they wrote about a terrible time in their life, that they wrote it without even a high school diploma (admitted in book), and that they've had a tough life and wrote so they could help someone who may be suffering from the same thing. But then the grammar and punctuation in the book was just so atrocious, that you could not let the review go without saying something about it.
I'm so sorry Cindy! I really am. I'm known for upsetting people when i mention this, but didn't you even read it over before you published it? Or at least put it through spellchecker? There are random letters throughout (like just a stray t sitting there) that makes me wonder. Not knowing the difference between new and knew is evident throughout, the use of excessive dots for ellipses or excessive exclamation points and question marks. Those can be forgiven as you're passionate, but the misspelling is in almost every single paragraph.
You really SHOULD run through spellchecker, then look it over yourself, fix what you can -- because there's a lot that you can -- then give it to a friend or relative who is better at the mechanics of the English language than you are to look over and then republish the revised edition. This could be SO much better.
There are peer groups that can help you online also to improve your skills. You can bring your story to them. I think there's one at WordPress. They are all over online, free, and you can meet tons of authors to help hone your writing skills and make your book better. I think you need that.
I LOVE horror, and this could be a GREAT horror story - even though it's your LIFE - if you just take some time to get it perfected.
As for people buying it though...unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend they do so with the number of errors in it. When people pay for a product, they want it free of defect...and this isn't. I'm sorry.
I couldn't finish this book. Not only was it unbelievable, have more typos than any law should allow & go on about the protagonist until I wanted to slit my wrists! No continuity, no character development and the worst story development I have ever had to try to get through. I realize it is supposedly a true story but if the monster that was stalking the author had to read this book he would have gone to sleep or gone away before I did.
This review is hard to write. Not because Cindy Sauer has written a bad novel, far from it. It is a well written tale of terror that draws the reader in and terrifies completely.Knowing that it really happened to her makes every thing that did occur to her that much more horrible and heartbreaking. If she writes more about her life , I want to read it!
I think I came across the show that was done about this story, but as usual it didn't do the story the justice the book did. I suppose maybe because it was told straight from the person who endured it. Well written, I couldn't put it down! I hope you can go the rest of your life with light and happiness!
I like the first hand account of this woman's life. There are times where it gets wordy or overly detailed and there are many typos. I enjoyed it for the knowledge she imparts about how she became possessed, what it was like, how she got free, and wisdom available from only someone who lived the experience. She courageously shares her story and her resilience.
This book was poorly written and full of errors the story just never got going or seemed to be going in any direction it was like I have chill I'm possessed by a demon i have seen better written material in reviews of can openers.
Always believe you did the right thing. And always keep the faith and Heavenly Father with you. It is truly amazing that you made it and there is always a reason for that Blessing. Amen
