Wonderful for its time and helpful for thinking through how we engage these issues today.

This, moreso than the rest of the Westminster standards needs to be read in the context of the English history since it’s primarily a response to (and attempted reformation of) the BCP. The removal of all set forms does not guarantee that the minister and congregation will be worshipping and serving God from the heart in Lord’s day worship. Many helpful correctives in here for us modern folks, several things that I don’t think are helpful. I admire its simplicity and find it incredibly pastoral. Every Christian who reads this (and applies themself to it) will find themselves looking forward to meeting with the Lord and his people for worship, even though this is really just written for pastors.

Third read.

As a compromise, guidance-liturgy between Presbyterians, Independents and Puritan-minded Anglicans this is both good and lacking. Much is studied ambiguity (like the Westminster Standards themselves) and only what could hold the various groupings together is definitely included. Still, a richer liturgy is consistent with this and there is much here to edify and help regulate wisely.

Liked it.

O livro é excelente para quem está estudando Teologia, pois é focado completamente no contexto histórico da Assembléia de Westminster.
