Roger and Suzanne Mysteries #16
Roger and the Cancelled Czech: A Roger and Suzanne Mystery
A close friend from Roger’s past is tasked with solving several recent murders in Prague and Budapest. But a bounty is placed on his head while he is en route to Eastern Europe to investigate the crimes. Roger is hired to take his place to find the answers to several Was the assailant who pummeled a man to death just outside a synagogue in Prague’s Old City human, or was he a Golem lurking in the area? Who is the Cobra, a shadowy character with major connections to the worlds of espionage and art theft? And why are the local secret police interested in his investigations? Meantime, Suzanne has her hands full taking care of a new baby and training her dog Romeo for agility competitions. Like all of the Roger and Suzanne series on Amazon Kindle, this is a tough, sometimes violent, but clean (no cussing, no sexual promiscuity) mystery that can be enjoyed either as a series entry or a standalone novel.

I am a big fan of this series and always look forward to a new book. Having recently visited Prague I was interested to see how this new adventure panned out. As always there is a good storyline, which though I wouldn’t describe as cosy, I wouldn’t go as far as describing it as hard-boiled. If you like the characters and have read some of these books, you will settle down and enjoy the story. Suzanne is at home with the dog and a new baby, while Roger heads for Eastern Europe to cross swords with some very shady and tough adversaries. I’m glad my holiday in this lovely city wasn’t as dangerous.
For lovers of this author, when a new book comes out it’s like picking up an old friend, for people that don’t know Jerold Last, give his books a try and you won’t be disappointed.

This mystery is set in Eastern Europe - in Prague and Budapest. Roger and Vicent are followed by the secret police from the moment they arrive from the airport to investigate the death of a man who fell to his death outside a synagogue.
This story of espionage and art theft keeps the reader on their toes.
