The star rating doesn't actually indicate how much fun I had here. I've only managed to read the title story Alisa with the Silver Hair and, yes, it is a high school re-write of The Count of Monte Cristo and yes, it's about 10 volumes too short for what it would need to do but damn in hindsight, this being written in 1971 and the kind of directions we now know that manga went in, that would be the perfect Manga wouldn't it? (and I'm not talking the Count in space with mechs of Gankutsuou, which is also fab). The contrivances here, though, are utterly ridiculous and needed fleshing out, the emotional resonance doesn't hit over 100 manga pages but my my the flex here ... it's its own 5* genius. I like the artstyle too, so despite the low rating, this is one of the first Manga I've read that feels like it's looking forward somehow. Getting pumped for more 70s Manga now.
