Retailing: Critical Concepts, Vol. 3, Book 1

Rate this book
This volume on retail practices and operations is the largest of the four volumes, necessitating a split into two separate parts Illi and IHii. In all there are 33 articles organised into three main sections and subdivisions. It is recognised that any structure in this area is difficult to justify and maintain, but here a three-fold disaggregation is used. This structure, it is hoped, is one that reflects the business practice and the way in which academics have developed their study in this area. First, relationships amongst retail businesses are considered, i.e. the study of horizontal competition. Second, relationships between retailers and other partners are reviewed, i.e. issues in vertical competition. These two sections are in Volume Illi. In Volume IHii, practices within retail operations are examined and cover topics such as new formats, management and customer service and products and prices.
