Notas Sobre Piscator. Teatro Político e Arte Inclusiva

Judith Malina (1926-2015) e o Living Theatre, grupo do qual foi uma das fundadoras, são ícones do teatro político há sete décadas. Porém, poucos sabem que ela estudou com Erwin Piscator (Alemanha, 1893-1966), um dos mais importantes encenadores do século XX, que contribuiu para a criação do teatro épico, com Bertolt Brecht, e cujas técnicas inovadoras criadas nos anos 1920 tiveram grande influência nas produções europeia e norte-americana. Meio termo entre um diário e um tratado sobre o método de Piscator, o livro compila as impressões de Malina sobre as aulas e a influência dele no teatro político e experimental, além refletir sobre a contribuição dos ensinamentos do encenador alemão para o trabalho do Living Theatre.

'Part 2: The Notebook' gives some insight into the different classes undertaken in the Dramatic Workshop. Depending on how well Malina enjoyed the class corresponds with how much detail of the class is provided, for example, she discusses little on voice class as it was her least favourite class. It provides a few insights into the working of Piscator.

'Part 3: The Ongoing Epic' provides more information on Political Theatre and the workings of Piscator, e.g. 'Piscator and the Audience' and 'Objective Acting' however, this is only a few pages. Interspersed here and there are snippets into Piscator's teaching/thinking; these come particularly from quotations taken from 'The Piscator Experiment' by Maria Ley-Piscator.
