Sacred Cows Make Gourmet Burgers: Ministry Anytime, Anywhere, By Anyone

Rate this book
This book shows how an atmosphere of permission-giving, which signals the end of leaders as enablers, can help church leaders transcend bureaucracy and enhance spiritual gifts rather than assign them. The 'sacred cows' of control and regulation can be devoured, as leaders and people are converted to a new style of ministry.

It almost seems as this author had a crystal ball to see into the future! Written in 1995, this book is even more important when it comes to today's church. Basically, he makes a great argument for getting rid of the "old" church hierarchic system full of rules and red-tape and moving to a "permission-giving" church system that inspires congregants freedom to use their unique gifts to fulfill the church's mission.

Excellent book. Challenges the top-down hierarchy thinking.
