Seeing as this guide was written in the 90’s there are definitely some recommended events and places that no longer exist. I looked for quite a while online but sadly had no luck finding the Bald-Headed Men of America’s Headquarters or their convention nor was I able to find the Strange Seafood Exhibit. I will say though that there are definitely some interesting places/events that are still around 30 years later that I’ll definitely be adding to our North Carolina bucket list such as Bridal Veil Falls, and the Waynesville Ramp Festival (now called the Ramp Convention). Overall it’s a fun book but more so for those living locally than anything else. Now if you need me I’ll be over in Swannanoa checking to see if “America’s Largest Southern Crab Apple Tree” survived Hurricane Helene.
