The Sanctuary Cipher
Retired and living comfortably, Alex Helsby is a history enthusiast and amateur archaeologist who discovers his beloved church was located within a battlefield site from the second English civil war. His excitement only grows when he realises that much of the adjacent farmland is listed amongst some of the best untouched battlefield sites in the country. Equipped with only a metal detector and owners permission, he embarks upon a quest of discovery that yields good results, until he is forced to relocate after a severe storm. In the second field, Alex makes considerable finds despite facing competition from a third party with similar intentions. But the most significant find includes a safe, which reveals awe inspiring valuables from a bygone era and a cryptic message known as the Sanctuary Cipher. Alex cracks the code and discovers a secret tunnel beneath the church, and with the permission of the rector, conducts a dangerous clandestine operation to reveal what has been hidden. His efforts reveal some of the long-lost works of William Shakespeare and documents relating to the formation of Freemasonry in England.

Interesting read about a church situated in Warrington where I live
Really enjoyed this book as my interest lies in the English civil war and finding this book was a must read one. I past this church on numerous occasions each week on my commute to work and have in the past been told stories about it so it was always on my radar.
