It is always extraordinary to witness the emotional force of a young mind.

"Right to Life" by Lysandra Furstenberg is written with joy and raw emotions. It is a song and a call for hope and humanity, for love and beauty.

The book is divided into sections based on the pieces’ inspiration.
In Nature we observe humankind through the point of view of a winter's day.
In theLove section we explore this powerful feeling and what provokes it. Two of the poems presented here are a mirrored image of each other.
The Life section is a call towards human's rights, through poems such as "Pain Is Beauty", receiver of a SACEE award (South African Council for English Education) Creative Writing Competitions for High Schools in the Junior Poetry Category.
"Right to Life" is also included in this section. For this poem the author was awarded the 2017 Renee Duke Youth Award in the Human Rights-themed Annual poetry contest open to poets aged 17 and younger, honoring Renee Duke, artist, poet, teacher, mentor, human rights advocate.
The Good vs Evilsection explores the strength of the human spirit.

"Right to Life" becomes a revelation when read, putting into poetic form a young mind's art of observation. It is a celebration of words and emotions and their powerful combinations.
Written with passion and a love for humankind, "Right to Life" is inspirational, a firework of simple beauty. Delight and sadness are perfectly entwined in this breathtaking debut collection, wherein Lysandra Furstenberg shines new meaning over our daily life.

The title, “Right to Life,” alludes beautifully to the author’s heartfelt messages within this collection of poems. Her messages stand in defiance of our society’s treatment of those who cannot defend themselves and of the hurt inflicted upon people when we try to mould them into what we, society, deem to be acceptable.
My favourite poems would have to be “My Home” which addresses the pain of losing someone close to you due to factors beyond your control and “Pain is Beauty” which deals with the everyday trials plaguing both models and young women alike.
The “Right to Life” is an all-round good read.

Right to Life. A book of poems by Lysandra Furstenberg, received a SACEE award (South African Council for English Education) for “Pain is Beauty”. A book of poems, written by a young girl who is not afraid to show her emotions through her powerful words. I found a connection with “The Woman I Loved” with having my own daughter, and “What I Want” strikes a chord that we do not always have to explain our actions.
Written with passion, “Right to Life” is a moving book of heartfelt poems.

I really enjoyed this book of thought provoking poetry. The poems ranged from light poems about love, to darker poems about the dark side of human nature. They were very moving, and I especially liked Right to Life, La Vie and Fighting Alone.
